These "memory sticks" for photos only are being advertised from 8gb to 128gb. Amazon has them as well as the web site for photostick. Big difference in price. Seems to be a love/hate feedback. Any members tried them out. Thanks

No, I would just use a regular USB memory.
What are they used for that is unique?

The advertising says the stick pulls all pictures with only wanting to know what order do you want in storring them. It does the full search..🤔

Used as a backup?
I wonder how many "order" options.
If I was backing up, I'd just copy the root photo directory, which will grab everything beneath it.

I think it is a hustle, way over priced and based on a misleading premise. It is so easy to learn how to find and back up your images. There is no magic or mystery involved. What is it that attracts you to it, if I may ask? There could be something I am missing on this.

It's a convenience bundle.
You get a regular thumb drive, plus some software that saves the image files onto it. You can always just buy a thumb drive and save your images manually. If they're all in one folder, you just save the folder to the thumb drive.

No need to pay for special software to do that.

I would not let an automated data collection device in the same room as my computer.

There in lies the problem for many on UHH. A 128 GB stick goes out tries to download 1T of image files. Not a pretty picture. A 128GB backup might be useful for non-photographers.

I have 2 external drives. Don't they do the same thing regarding backup?

Yeah, but you didn't get to spend twice as much (or more) per GB!
