Metz is a very old company with high quality products, founded in 1938. Almost went under, but was saved by the Daum group and is alive and well and still producing flashes in Germany. Not cheap, but excellent quality from my experience.

Whatever dude. It is really hard to find info on the Metz speedlites - https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1253800-REG/metz_mz_44321c_mecablitz_44_af_2_digital.html - which has a similar power rating as the Canon and almost impossible to find the Profoto range as well https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/browse/Profoto/ci/7757/N/4232859328

The Metz 64 (which is in about double the power output compared to a GN 43/44)) recycle time is about 1.5-1.8 seconds from a full power shot when using good quality NiMh and about half that if you use an external power pack

BTW - Bolt is just rebranded old model Godox flashes - ok but not in any way in Metz territory. Nissin is sort off OK.
If you really want to compare speedlites you have to get past just looking at numbers and compare even-ness of the light spread, how stable the color temp of the light is both flash to flash and across the power range, Consistency in power output flash to flash, precision in power levels, etc - this is where the high end products like metz and Profoto really stands out. Most hobbyists probably do not need this level of equipment and will be pretty happy with the cheap china products.

Christian … first off, unlike you - I DO like to be called Chris … but NOT "Dude" ….

Secondly - I have real troubles getting to the B&H web-site … when I do finally get there, after several hours of trying, it usually drops back out, the moment I try to access anything …

When I make reference to the "B&H Catalogue" - it is to the paper catalogue, I am usually sent in the mail, approximately four times per year (and have been, for the last 4-5 decades) … and, in that, there is only listed 4 Metz units - of which, the 64 AF-1 is, by far, the best, and its recycle time is listed as between .1 and 4.4 seconds. There are NO Profoto flash units listed in the PRINTED catalogue, at all.

I cannot speak to the reference about "cheap China products" as I have NO IDEA how many of the ones I suggested as viable alternate THIRD PARTY products are made in China, but, I assume Yongnuo is - because of the name, but have no idea about the others. BTW, many of my cameras, are made in China.
I suspect, you will find - many other photographic products, are also made there. Many here have made comparisons, previously, between the products made in China and Taiwan, and the products made in Singapore, or Malaysia, or Thailand, or Vietnam, or Indonesia, or the Philippines, and ones made in Japan - and many here have not seen ANY difference in the quality of these products.

Okay Chris - whatever floats your boat. I was just pointing out that you may not have painted the entire picture - and I stand by that

Actually, Christian - it's NOT a matter of "whatever floats MY boat" - but, more - whatever floats the boat of the folks who put together the B&H PRINTED catalogue (the new one of which was just delivered last week) which I rely on, solely, for my information, as I cannot seem to get to the usual photographic equipment sites (not only B&H, but Adorama and KEH, too) ever since I upgraded to the latest version of Win 10 Home!

If THEY choose to leave out the better flash units, like Profoto's and upper tier ones from Metz and Bolt - there's not a whole lot I can do about it. But, I did call as soon as I got the catalogue, and pointed out some of the more glaring errors - including the Leica TL2 listed as being 124.2MP, the Olympus OM-D E-M1X listed as being just $1699, and the new Panasonic DC-S1R, listed WITH the 24-105 as just $3397.99. And - you know what, Christian? … Fat Lot they care. They didn't even THANK me. In fact, they called back a little while later, with an insulting remark, and then - hung up! … It's no wonder I stay connected to the Net, as much as possible. Actually, considering the amount of research that went into these alternate Third Party suggestions for the OP - and the amount of friction I've gotten in the aftermath - I don't even KNOW why I even BOTHER trying to be helpful … I don't think I will, again!!!!

I think you need to get your internet connection sorted out. Paper catalogs are outdated already when you receive them and they are indeed a massive waste of paper.

My only point was that there were important alternatives that you had not mentioned in your reply

Yes, but I think you missed MY point, Christian - and that was - I'd been looking for comparable third party alternatives to Mike's 430 RT III … and, in my assessment of what was out there - there were two lines of flash heads - one line equal to his unit … plus the next tier up - all of which were either in the $100-$125 range - or ones in the $260 range. Since the best offering from Metz - in the same tier - was twice as much as all the others, I deliberately DID NOT include it, in my first response. But after you belly-ached about it, Christian - I did include the Metz 60 AF-1 … did I not? ….

BTW, Christian - there's nothing whatsoever, wrong with my Internet Connection - it's free, and it works!!!!

AND, you may think paper catalogues are a massive waste of paper - but, I've no idea what I'd do without my new B&H catalogue fix - at the beginning of every new season. Some of the prices may be wrong - such as the new Oly E-M1X - a three thousand buck camera - being printed as only $1699 … and the new Panny S1R as being three hundred bucks LESS with the 24-105 lens, than it is - Body Only .. but, I can live with it … if B&H can … but, it means - they're gonna have a lotta explaining to do - till the summer one arrives!!!!

What on earth do you call it, then? … Crying on about my leaving out a $435 flash unit, in a list of viable third-party options (which is what the OP had requested) - all of which cost LESS than $100, or - in the second tier - NOT MORE - than $260???

That's BELLY-ACHING … and my tummy hasn't calmed down, now - in THREE DAYS, Christian …

Fat lot YOU care - huh?

Congratulations!!!!
