I am looking for advice on purchasing a after market flash for canon. Similar to canon 430exIII.
Did you look to KEH.com for a used copy, say for a 580EX / EX II or the 430EX?

In terms of long term reliability, an OEM Canon is probably to be preferred, especially if you rely on your flash for professional work. However, given the high price of Canon flashes, you may want to consider a Youngnuo. Their clone of the 600EX-RT is hard to distinguish from the Canon product (except for the logo) and ~1/4 the price. I have the OEM Canon and the Youngnuo clone and they both work equally well with identical features and menus after several years, but not being a pro, I don’t stress my equipment with constant use.

And I can never get the spelling correct - even the notorious spell checker gets it wrong 😫

Try Altura Photo, they make their own after market Flash for Nikon and Canon cameras. I have one specific to my Nikon Camera, has performed well thus far, although I have not used it on a real regular basis. It had decent reviews when I bought it. Some positive and some negative.
I have used Nissin for about 10 years. Never had a failure or non fire and I often use 3-4 at an event.
I think that they would prefer YOU to learn Chinese. Get used to it.

Thanks for your input!! I have checked on line and the vast majority of the reviews are positive. I am amazed at the price and the functionality, almost to good to be true. I am ordering one from Amazon, $59 Thanks again for your input.

I would get one of these from Adorama.com
They are the only outfit that carries them. They are a knockoff of the Canon original 600EX RT. They are also compatible with them so if you were to decide to buy the real thing down the line, you can use them together as master and slave in RT mode.
