I'm curious how people feel that bought their new Nikon Z7 last month to see that Nikon reduced the price on them so soon. Me personally, I am really ticked off. I understand that if you bought the Z7 less than 30 days ago that there might be some relief in order but in my case it was about 36 days ago and B&H basically said "Sorry".

What would be the limit (cut-off)? Two months? Four months?

When I bought my camera years ago, two months later they released the next version. Darn.

Nikon usually has special sales several times a year, so it's best to wait if you can. I guess they met their quota to cover R&D expenses given current demand for the Z7...I wish they were that quick with the D850 :)

Had that happen with a lens. Price dropped $200, and Nikon offered the 200 back if you bought withing x days, but it had to be submitted by the store your bought it at. I was within that time and went to the store (40 minutes away), but they refused to send in the rebate papers. That was my last purchase at that store. I does give me great pleasure to know that the store went down hill very fast, and is on the verge of closing. As above, those are the breaks, and some times they break the wrong way.

I was looking at the D750 starting in November it was $1299 then when I went to make purchase I waited one day to long. It went up $200 overnight literally. I was going to buy it on a Tuesday but decided to wait till the next morning and it went up on every site. When Nikon raises the price it is across the board. I did still buy it and it has not gone down in price again. I was so mad at myself for waiting that extra day.

It's all driven by sales....or lack there-of.
Camera sales, in general, are on a downturn.... a steady downturn.
Nikon makes most of it's coin from photography related products.
Canon and Sony and Panasonic ... don't.
They can afford a shrinking market .... Nikon cannot.

I bought a Canon EOS R a few months ago and I see today that Canon just dropped the price for the kit I bought, the EOS R, RF 24-105 lens and EF lens adapter, by $500. While it would be nice to have that $500 to put towards another lens, I wasn't put off by the price when I bought it so I am not going to complain now. 30 days to get a reduced price is about normal. That's a pretty fair policy. Nothing says they have to give anything.

C'est la vie. Today, I called Nikon because my D750 won't let me select focus point any longer. After going through all the protocols, I'm informed that I have to send it in for repairs.

Guess what.. it is exactly 30 days after my one year warranty is over. And I never ever had to send any camera for repairs in over 40 years of photography as a hobby, until now, with my very first digital camera. I just hope that my Refurbished Df, that I bought last week doesn't develop any problems after the 90 days warranty.

It's the way things are. Why didn't I notice it 30 days ago? Now I have to pay. And pay we do one way or another.

This is nothing new, and it doesn't only happen with cameras. If you want to be first on your block with the new toy, you have to pay to play. Those who were willing to wait save some money. Everybody got what they wanted when they wanted it. There is no reason for sour grapes.

Interesting viewpoints. I was surprised that Nikon reduced the price of its first mirrorless camera so soon after it hit the streets. I understand cameras periodically go on sale but historically is this the norm for Nikon on a release of their latest and greatest offerings? I'll wait to see if the latest mirrorless lens like the 24-70 f2.8 drop in price before I make my next Nikon purchase.

I earlier gave a shout out for Roberts Camera who covered some $300 of repairs on a used DF I bought from them after I had it 5 months or so. Also Adorama agreed to replace a Nikon 200-500 lens that I had for a few months and they also covered the earlier sale price and gave me a refund on the costlier repurchase. Happy with both these sellers.

Best you can do is appeal to your seller and it looks like you did.

But hey you have a Z7 and have been using it so that counts for something.

If it is worth the price you paid, then you got a deal, and it is worth it. You have no reason to gripe. If it is not worth what you paid, then you should not have bought it. You will never always get the lowest price on everything. Some things you get better bargains on, and other things you don't. Such is life. Live it, or die. Instead of fretting yourself into a coronary, why not: forget about it, move on, and get a better deal on your next lens, or SUV, or trip abroad,or whatever, and be happy about that? I got a good 70-300mm lens for $78.00 recently. That makes up for having paid a bit of a premium to get the engraved Walther handgun I wanted. Some things I get better deals on, and on other things the deals aint quite so hot. Over a year, or so, most of my deals are pretty good, so I do well in the long run. Wasting my life, pouting-because one deal wasn't quite as great as it could have been-is the sort of thing my chronically depressed cousin would do. I refuse to become like her. If you want the best ever deal, on everything, wait until the item is old, and discontinued, and then buy a well used, refurbished, model during the Xmas shopping season. You won't be keeping up with-or getting ahead of-'The Joneses', but you will be getting the lowest prices.
