It would be about $200 more than what you paid for the D5300. But a real good move for you would be the D7200. The D7200 takes the same images as D5300. The only additional features it provides have nothing to do with control of this image (eg. ability to focus legacy lenses). And it lacks features of the D5xxs such as articulated screen and elegant control via. the info screen (inoperative on D7xxxs till D7500).

Correct, that’s why I said the camera you have now (5300) takes extraordinary photographs.

Do a little research on how hyperfocal distance works. Simplistically, you focus about 1/3 into the scene, and with the proper f stop, near to infinity will be in acceptable focus. YouTube has some good videos to help visualize this.
