For me, yes because I do a fair amount of low light photography and am increasingly frustrated with digital noise. The upcoming D760 is projected to be around $2200 and I will be trading my current D7500 and a lens so the overall price won't be that bad. I don't need or want a D850.

Unless you are shooting birds or macro you are probably right, you don't need the 850, but if you are doing photography where you need to get close but can't..... well all those extra pixels mean tighter cropping.
