A group[ of us went to DC on 3/20/11 and our first stop was the Lincoln Memorial. Sat on the steps waiting for the door to open. Few visitors at that time I had in mind to make a panorama so I did. The few visitors entering at that time saw me doing something and avoided my field of view.
8 Images, Manual, F8, 1/250, ISO - 1000 at 22mm, don't remember what lens; believe I was using the Nikon D300 at the time using a Nodal Ninja Panorama Head. Stitched with PTgui, edited with Capture NX -2.

My eye goes to the base, not Lincoln himself. While this is how the lighting is, I would have changed in post. Also, I would have liked more ceiling so that Lincoln was in the center of the frame.

This is a good example how powerful a panorama can be. And you were lucky people did not stroll across the scene but we have a fix for that too. Thanks for posting.

I really like the composition, as it better expresses the emotion that is felt, than a narrower shot.

I do appreciate your comments - thanks.
When setting up to take the images I deliberately placed Lincoln as I did. I wanted everything to lead to Lincoln and I thought the ceiling detracted. Yes, the base is well lit, but to my eye that just drew my eye to Lincoln.
