Hope I'm wrong but it sure looks like one. Bad news if it is because it was on my property. The last image is not very good but it's the only dorsal view I have.

Unless there are a million varieties, I found no images on the web (so far) that have the orange band behind the head. Doesn't look like a shield bug.

Hard to be certain but don't worry needlessly as they don't all carry Chagas disease... Here is some info from the CDC...

Hope you are right. I noticed the band behind the head, too. It's the only thing I really see as an identifier.

I also tried searching Google Pics using the last image, but nothing identifiable came up.

Any entomologists on the Hog?

I tried that, too. No luck so far. Thanks, Longshadow.

I've read that they're in the southeast, Ken, but like Scott says, they don't all carry Chagas. Still I wouldn't want them on my property.

I am beginning to think it's something else, Donna. If it is, it's a nice looking bug which can stay around.

I haven't found any picture labeled as a kissing bug that has the orange line such as yours. One I found has a broken line but yours appears to be solid. If you get a chance, try to get a sharp side view of the head. All of the examples I found on a search have an elongated head & probiscus. Here's hoping yours aren't the real deal.

Thanks, TBerwick. I think I'm ok. Looks like it's not a Kissing Bug. I hope not.
