Speaking very subjectively here, but the road shot and the eighteen random tourists dotting the landscape shot do not compare to any of your others. The first shot in the series is what prompted me to look at your post. As Bob (more judiciously than I) pointed out, the 'lines' --or partially removed power lines-- in the sky detract from what could be otherwise be a superb image.

Thank you for your comments, they are appreciated. I had not thought about those the way you did, they were more of an introduction to the NP to me. I should have concentrated on the subject and not added other things.

This NP is about 35 miles east of Alamosa, CO where the flat land meets the mountains. The wind blowing from the Southwest piles the sand up against the foothills and has created a permanent series of dunes the tallest of which is about 750 feet above the floor.

Wow!! thanks for sharing.

Some beautiful images. I recently moved to a place about 2 hours drive from that NP and this really motivates me to go there. Is any time of year best (for photography of course)?

We were there in October in the late afternoon so the sun was just right for photography. Medano creek was dry because there hadn't been rain. Here's their website that gives more details.

I wasn't there so I depend on what you show me what you saw. Shots one and four accomplish that in spades. Shots five and six, while I typically don't like humans in Landscapes, in these to they serve to establish size relationships. Although it's a different genera altogether I even like "Road Goes On".

Overall, of course, what I or anyone else says is totally unimportant. They are your pictures. As so, you, and only you, determine what to show, what photos, in what order and what subject matter.
