I have a Craftsman 10" that is more than 25 years old and it is in great condition. It has a 3hp motor. I changed out the pulleys for a balanced set and put on a Power Twist Link Belt. Runs smooth and no vibrations. Only the lightest work could be handled by a 1hp motor. If it jams up it could be very dangerous. You might be better off by looking at Woodcraft.com for the proper motor for your saw. Always make sure that your blade is always clean & sharp. Safety first.
My 2 cents on tables saws, they were invented with and to cut sheet goods. Sheet goods dont jam or kickback. Bandsaw are for cutting wood. Accept that fact and you'll keep all your body parts a lot longer. In recent years I rough size my wood with a bandsaw and just use a table saw sometimes to take off the last 1/8" if needed, no risk of kickback.

I would have the old motor rebuilt.
i traded the burnt out old motor to a friend who can rewind them or what ever they do for a Fenwick fly rod.
I don't do to much wood work any more and thought it was a good deal.

The saw has been sitting in my garage since then, I could of used it a couple of times but--.
I have a chance to get a lightly used 1hp, 3450 rpm motor for it for a very good price (take the gent fishing for a couple times on the river- I'm going anyhow)
Would this be big enough for a light to moderate work load?
Thanks in advance

No ... You need a 15 amp motor capable of at least 5,000 rpm. Anything smaller would bog down on thicker cuts (3/4")

I have this 1hp, 25amp, speed 3450 rpm, the driven pulley is 2 inch what drive pulley do I need to make it go 5000 rpm?
Thanks

Not sure Swede. Perhaps the 25amp motor would more than make up for the lower rpm. Maybe a pulley 30% smaller would help (3450rpm divided by 5000rpm = 70%)
How do you have a 1HP 25amp motor? 1HP should draw no more than about 6-8 amps. What do you even plug that into?
