These aren't the best photos ...I added the second one for size comparison.
I have never seen anything like this.... have you?
Jen
A hornet maybe on the big one and a wasp on the little one?
I know the little one is a yellow-jacket, but it is in normal size.... I've never seen a hornet or wasp SO big! Thanks for answering, I appreciate it.
Jen :-) :-)

Those yellow jackets are mean little buggers. They nest in the ground. If you go near them they swarm after you. Five of them got me on the ankle a few years ago. Now I have to take benadrill if I get stung. I too have them on my humming bird feeder all ther time.
It's a hummingbird feeder with some flying insects on it?
Thank you 4X4 lee,

Vic,
Hal81, I'm in the process of makeing a bee trap_ They can only fly up, so if you drill a hole in the bottom of a soda bottle and a small hole in the cap You can take some string and hang it the it near the feeder. Put just a little soda in the bottom and they'll fly in and be trapped.
SWFeral... hahahahah
Jen :D :D

It's an Eastern Cicada Killer or Sphecius speciosus, a large digger wasp species. The female wasps are not aggressive & rarely sting.
Males aggressively defend their areas on nesting sites against rival males but they have no sting. Although they appear to attack anything that moves near their territories, male cicada killers are actually investigating anything that might be a female cicada killer ready to mate.
So stop wearing that wasp costume Jennifer & he will not bother you. 8-)
Of course, it could also be a Great Golden Digger Wasp masquerading as an Eastern Cicada Killer. Only Nikonian72 knows for sure. :?:
But I love that costume! Glad to see you Bmac, you've been missed!
Jen :-)
It looks like a Bald Face Hornet. I found one not to long ago. But mine was already dead.
