Patton was a son-of-a-b***h.... The Germans feared & respected him above all, our allies and our high command loathed and opposed him- held him back, sidelined him!!! Conservatives today would recognize his strengths and accomplishments, democrats would have had him arrested for something like slapping a guy. HE delivered, he performed, was egotistical and self aggrandizing, he genuinely cared for his men but he expected and demanded greatness, disdained cowardice and sloth, and didn't lead from a rear desk. His men respected him.
He was a lot of things... ends up he was pretty freakin great despite some of them. We could talk about Grant or Sherman, We could talk about Roosevelt, how about Washington or Kennedy... or Jefferson.
Wonder if this mix is a trait.

I doubt that Trump as a leader has ever been considered analogous to Patton before; and I doubt that he ever will be again.
