He is used-to being in-charge, which for many, if not all, in equivalent business positions means being unquestioned and this has conflict with his current position. I would rather deal with up-front than deal with subtle or non-subtle manipulation as politicians practice; they may be up-front in saying what they want but then do the manipulation to get what they want - when its done, one scratches their head and says "How the hell did that happen?"; remember Pelosi saying (to paraphrase) "You have to read the bill after it passes to find out what it does?".
