B & H, Adorama, and KEH are all reputable dealers.
Keh, B&H and Adorama are all quality outfits. I have bought from Keh and B&H with 100% positive results. Probably a larger inventory at Keh because used seems to be their business model.

Seeking advice on where to buy a used lens. It's a particular older Nikon autofocus zoom. I'll have to buy it online, and am seeking recommendations and warnings of used lens sellers. I would like to get it from a seller who actually checks the lens for proper function and is a straight shooter in every way. Fine with paying a fair price; I want quality and am willing to pay for it. I'm sure that y'all in Hedgehog land have vast experience with many online dealers... Thanks in advance.
Adorama, KEH, B&H. All have to customer service and fair prices, free returns.
KEH, hands down. They are fast and honest. I have dealt with Adorama, Cameta and they are good. Return policies are very fair.
I bought a lens and camera from MPB , lens was very good and as described. Only problem with the camera, advertised 'like new' was that the firmware was not current.
I've been very satisfied with equipment I've bought over the years from B&H, Adorama, KEH and Roberts. I've also had occasion to return items to each of them, and never had a moment's hesitation from any of 'em. So I would deal with any of them again if they have what I want at a price I'm willing to pay.
That said, you probably will get a larger selection sooner on Ebay, where I have also had great luck buying and selling photo gear for 20+ years. The secret is dealing only with folks who have a large number of transactions and 99+% Positive feedback. IIRC, only one feedback from an individual counts for the feedback ratings, so if somebody has 5,000 it means that they have feedback from 5,000 different (at least internet-different) people, not just bulk buyers or repeat customers.
For example, I recently found an excellent ebay deal on a Panasonic-Leica lens from Kenmore Camera in Seattle - 30,000 feedback, 100% positive. It was as clean as anything I've bought from the usual suspects, beautifully (safely) packed and shipped immediately. I'd never heard of Kenmore before, but would happily deal with them again if the opportunity arises.
MPB
Look no further. These guys are honest and back up what they sell.
My experience was excellent.
I recently bought from KEH and I am very pleased at the Mint Condition lens I got from them. It was the Canon 100-400L II f/4-5.6 with the improved barrel lock...works great too.
japan , is good , see ebay .

Yep, MPB is my go to place for used gear. I have had 3 transactions with them and each one was most excellent! I have also used ebay & Craig's List. On ebay, check closely the description, seller rating and feedback. What I like about CL is it's a face to face deal, where you can inspect the item prior to purchasing.
I'd also vote for KEH. Fair prices and they stand behind their mechandise
Add me to those recommending KEH. I've bought three lenses from them so far and all were much better than described. Fast service and great prices, too.
I use B&H. They know what they are talking about and you can return it if it not as described.
