This is a curmudgeonly thing to say, but I never had that problem with any of my Nikon F's or 'Blads. New technology, new problems.
Good luck.

May I ask, please explain, what is a "focusing cloth?"

It's something like this. They are used for view camera.

Shooting in live view in broad daylight is almost an impossible task, the sun is so bright, I cannot see the LED screen on my Nikon D750. Trying to shield the screen from the sun is seldom effective. How do those of you who experience the same problem handle it?

I use mine occasionally just to take a quick look at a shot. There are many shields available for the LCD. I also have links for magnifiers. I tried one, and I sent it back. Take a look.

Thanks for the link.

I had been puzzling with a DIY version for several years, but I was thinking about a much smaller version. Now I have a better idea of how to make it. I just need to buy a new sewing machine, or I'll just have do it all but hand.

I had borrowed a hood man for a while, but because I use my left eye to look through the viewfinder, it kept getting in the way. I only wanted to be able to review my shots on the LED screen, and it became more of an annoyance than a help. The cloth is a better solution for me. Maybe having it attached to a hat that you just turn around or flip the cloth forward when you need the shade. When it's not in use for the camera, it's shielding your neck from the sun.

Get a Hoodman Loupe. Do a Google search, or look online at B&H. Beats do it yourself shades. The eyepiece can be adjusted to your eye.

I don't know as I never use liveview.

Then why even bother commenting?

I "miss" my Nikon F also, but then again, it did not enable me to magnify an image and get better/sharper focus in certain shooting situations.

I said that don't use liveview and it solves the problem. But another poster said

"I don't know the OP's reason for using live view but some times you have no choice."

And so I responded that I don't know why I need liveview because I never used it. I don't know a situation where I have no choice.

The "carmudgeounly thing" is what follows in the carmudgeon's *own* post- which is a general *direct reply* to the OP's topic.

As I said in my response to that, "I am forced to use it (with a Hoodman) if I want to stay in the game.". Since you insist on being obtuse I'll add a bit of detail, I have age related vision problems. Do you know anything about the OP and why he(she?) uses live view?

Rich! I do believe you do need live view which I didn't know about. I only tried to explain to the other poster who said I shouldn't make the comment "I don't know as I don't use liveview". That particular comment is only for you and not for the OP. My comment to the OP was "Don't use liveview".

The intimidate prior post was simply the word "Hoodman" How is that word referencing a well know product designed for the Op's problem "curmudgeonly"?
