Why do you think you need a 50mm prime? I almost never use that focal length myself, plus you have it covered with your zoom.
Well, I got mine because it was an ƒ1.4. My zoom is not that wide.

Welcome, enjoy, found a great place to learn
What a coincidence, I just now came back from the kitchen after a glass of milk and some of those selfsame cookies you photographed. Get out and take pictures. Experiment with different settings. Don't use the auto setting crutch, but don't miss getting the picture because you didn't use it. Have fun. I am looking forward to seeing some of your pictures.
I don't know that I "need" a 50mm. However from what research I've been doing I understand that it's better than my zoom lens for a low light, It's lighter, and overall a very versatile lens (i.e portraits, landscapes, etc.) I also feel like having a prime or a couple of prime lenses that I can use effectively will allow me to become a more well rounded photographer.
Welcome to the world of photography and to UHH. You've already been bitten by the G.A.S.(gear addiction syndrome) bug lusting after that next piece of gear.
Enjoy your quest for the best shot.
Happy shooting
