You might also check used prices on the D3s which was a remarkable camera with an amazing FX sensor. usedphotopro.com (the used division of Roberts Camera) has one for $783 in very good condition, and several other choices. Despite being only 12MP, my daughter still uses it as the primary camera for her wedding business because the image quality straight out of camera is amazing and cuts down on her processing time.

OK, the following camera's have a full compatibility with your lens.
D7000,7001,7002, D300, 300s, D500, 600, 610, 700, 750, 800, 800e, 810, 810a, 850, D1 series, 2 series, 3 series, D4, D4s, D5, Df.
And yes, the D610 fixed all the problems of the D600.
And the following lenses are some of my favorite FX lenses, 24-120 f4, 16-35 f4, 24-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8, 500 f5.6, all the Nikon prime 1.8 lenses, my personal favorite is the 85mm 1.8, and the Nikon 200-500 f5.6.

IMO, the benefit of a D600 over the D610 is that because of the potential sensor issue, Nikon will replace the sensor free of charge even after the warranty has expired. I have not had any sensor issues but it is good to know if there is one, it will be repaired for free. Hello All,

Went to digital kicking and screaming several years ago and have been using a Nikon D200 for the past few years. I've been very happy with the results, however I seriously want to return to my roots in 35mm. I own several Nikon AI and AIS lenses and want to use them again. I know they can be used on my D200, however I want my 35 to be 35, not a 52.5.

I'm retired at this point so cost is a consideration. In looking into DX Nikons, I'm finding that the D600 or the D3 seem to fit what I'm looking for on paper. I primarily photograph landscapes, youth sports and wildlife.

I've been reading about problems with the D600 and some sort of spots. Did the D610 fix this problem? The D3 is somewhat problematic in finding one with a reasonable shutter count.

I will be using a lot of my manual lenses as I'm still old school and am not dependent on autofocus.

Suggestions? Other recommendations in an FX Nikon?

Thanks in advance for your replies and advice.

The D610 was introduced as a new model - with no problems - to get away from the bad reputation of the D600. The D600 will be less expensive, and they were probably all repaied under that recall, but the D610 would be a safer choice.

I have a D700 with a very low shutter count, if a used 700 is a consideration.

I have a D610 with which I am very pleased. It is providing all of the power needed for any application I request from it.
If you are considering it I would suggest Ken Rockwell's review, https://kenrockwell.com/nikon/d610.htm.

I have owned two Nikon D200's, now only one added to a D750 and D5000. The D200 is a great camera and I would reccomend them to anyone just getting into Digital Photography. I feed them with a variety of Nikon and 1 Sigma lens. It's not the camera, post-processing or money spent that matters. It's what in the eye and hand of the beholder.

Whatever you decide, please let me suggest that whatever new camera you choose, hang on to your D200. I didn't do that, and have regretted it. The CCD sensor in the D200 can do some really nice things with color that can be difficult to duplicate with the CMOS sensors in all of the newer cameras.

You may not miss it, but I sometimes do...

Gene51's suggestion is right on, as usual. I've been using a D800e since July of 2016. I purchased it used from B and H. It's a fantastic camera. Most of the lenses I have from my Nikon F days work on it, as well.

Do the 610 rather than the 600. Oil spots on the 600 was NOT rare, even though there are folks who never had the problem. I had both and there was a reason for that. If you can do the D750 do it. If not you won't feel bad about the 610.

I boulght a reconditioned D600 from KEH and have been positively delighted with it! Teamed up with the 28-300mm FX lens, it does everything for me. Kinda hefty, though.

Suggest MPB.com, B&H, UsedPhotoPro (Roberts), Adorama, Hunts, Cameta, KEH, the gear is generally in excellent condition, prices are good, warranty (at least 6 months, some will extend). MPB.com has been real good for me last couple of purchases. Not all will post shutter count. Good hunting!!

I have used a D610 for 6 years with no issues. I still have it and use it. Great camera but I did get a D850 due to its superior low light performance and its focusing system for sports, BIF etc. I think you could find a nice used one for around $500-700. Having said that, if you can break your $1000 budget, a little, I think a D750 is a terrific value for a new FX camera.
