I hear we could use some landscape shots here, so I have a couple on the browser taken this spring. Any comments and/or critiques and/or suggestions for improvements would be welcomed. Thanks for looking. Which is the better shot?

Both are good shots. The first one with the S curve attracts the eye. If at all possible those telephone or electric wires should be cloned.
A simple Curves Adjustment will improve on the contrast.

Agree with camerapapi on all counts. Were these shot in slight haze or fog - or achieved via pp? There isn't enough of the atmosphere to make me feel its mood. I find myself wishing for vibrant, clean spring colors. I do love your compositions and subjects!

Thank you for your quick responses. Yes, Linda, it was a foggy morning, heavy overcast, and the vibrant colors that one associates with a group of pear trees just was not to be had. Ironically, this is the best possible day for shooting the early blooming trees, as for the next two nights we had not only frosts, but freezes that killed the blossoms. And, camerapapi, I agree, the electric lines should be removed. Thanks for the suggestion of a curves adjustment, as I had not thought about that.

I also like the first one and would like to see the lines removed. In the second I like the use of negative space all the way down the rows of trees.

I like 2 the most, both have good leading lines.

FWIW I prefer the first and agree that the removing the wires would eliminate a distraction. Not sure that I would increase contrast, though. As it is, there is a sense of what is to come in the following days and weeks - the capture of a moment.

I prefer the curves in the first photo. Since I’m sort of a fan of reality, the wires don’t bother me.

While I like the curved road, I prefer #2 becasue I really can't tolerate the wires in #1.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Wanda, both of these have a lot of potential. There seems to be some processing funkiness going on in both of them.

I really like both shots, but I also think the first one would look much better if the electical lines were removed fro the image.

I'm in a quandary. Both photos are of a peaceful pastoral scene. Why, then, do I find myself tensing up when I see the photos?
Anyone? Anyone?
