It is common that camera manufacturer;s to put on their website a list of what an update does. Usually there are these causes: Fix a problem in the original firmware; make compatible with new lenses from the camera manufacturer; on some occasions same with third party lenses; and in a very very few occasions, add new functionality to the camera.
I always look up what it does, and frequently I choose to pass. The concept that updating "keeps your camera operating to the optimum possible" is erroneous
