All of the above replies are why I buy from B&H or Adorama or others like them.

As with most things especially adverts - If it sounds too good to be true it probably is!

Called again, same recording. Some people make money by collecting phone numbers and selling the list. They can call me all they want, caller ID lets me know.

On my local Craigs List, gee I better jump on it before it's gone.

Does it come with an assembly instruction manual? Or is it just a box full of camera parts in little plastic bags?

There was a 5D4 on here not to long ago for a crazy low price. I messed with him for a while, offered to fly out to wherever and pick it up but I had to pay and I would get it after the next production run lol.

Amen, $600, no way I would touch that. Too many things that could be wrong.

The seller probably doesn't even have an 850. Follow through with the ad and the "seller"will ask for money, before you see or receive any camera.
This is a common scam.

Yep.

This SCAM (Brand New Nikon D850 for $600) has made it's way to Milwaukee, WI craigslist.

Here's how it goes down...

Seller asks to be contacted via phone or text message...Seller responds via text message that they have moved since item was posted on Craigslist. Seller claims they moved to Billings, Montana for work...further claiming Nikon D850 was received as birthday gift which they do not want. Seeking to raise cash fast in order they may buy high end iMac.acc

Scam seller provides a ton of pictures showing factory packaging, body (only), battery, charger...etc.
Claims body has ZERO shutter actuation...never used.

Here's where it starts to get real interesting...

Seller states listing has been flipped from Craigslist to eBay due to fact (in this case seller claims to be "Ashley Martinez") she no longer leaves in Milwaukee area.

The scammer (aka Ashley Martinez") provides a link to "eBay listing" with instructions if you want it now for this price...$600 FIRM, shipping included...click on the Buy It Now button...in turn you receive payment instructions on what purportedly is an invoice from eBay.

You receive instructions to purchase (3) $200 eBay giftcards. You are requested to send pictures of cards (front & rear}to them so they can verify you have/had the funds to cover transaction. She claims cards can't / won't be used until package is delivered to your residence, you inspect camera and only after you are satisfied you turn cards over to delivery person...YEAH RIGHT !!

A quick call to eBay Security confirms your worst nightmare. If a person were to fall hard for this SCAM and provide "seller" with pics of eBay giftcards you have kissed your money goodbye. eBay Security said they along with other auction sites are viictims of these scams/fraud on an increasing basis.

In case you are wondering, any attempt by the buyer to negotiate other forms of payment like PayPal, personal credit cards, etc. which offer protections for the buyer for transactions that don't pan out fall on deaf ears. The "seller" will remind you that other buyers are hot for same item...even though you have hit the Buy it Now button and have supposed "sale invoice you have only so many hours to send them proof of EBay card purchase. If you don't follow thru in required time period the next sucker gets to play the game.

eBay Security and local law enforcement authorities have been provided with log ofall communications. Craigslist has removed listing from Milwaukee area.

You know what they say...if it sounds too good to be true it's not !! Really sad anyone looking for legit deals has much to lose and little to gain.

All the more reason for only dealing with B&H, Adorama, KEH, Cameta, etc.

Suggest you conduct the transaction in the lobby of your local police station.
