Rather than ignoring your DX lenses, use them on the Z6 whenever you want. It just maximizes the versatility of having an FX camera, and you will seldom take an image that is "ruined" by having half as many megapixels.
Pros - you get to use your DX lenses
cons - you lose more than 1/2 the pixels. Better to use the lens on a DX camera. (See table from another Nikon model for large).
A 24MP (6016 X 4016 large, pixels) sensor when used in DX (3936 X 2624 large, pixels) = 10.3, or drops to ~10MP, less than 1/2 the pixels!
I seem to be sort of grumpy today, so I took a deep breath before entering this discussion, trying to avoid getting in trouble a second time in one day..
I had only a DX camera for 11 years. But I had only three DX lenses, because it seemed smarter to buy FX in case of an expansion or move to full frame down the road. Now have both formats, but only two DX lenses...an excellent 17-55mm f2.8 and a so-so 18-200mm. I do not have a wide range full frame zoom. But I'd have no guilt at all if the occasion arose that called for using the wide range zoom on either my D810 or D850. I'd get quite usable shots either in DX format (probably about 20 MP) or 24mm by 24mm square format (probably about 31 or 32 MP). No damage would be done to any camera or lens, and no photographers or subjects would be harmed. The fabric of the universe would not be distorted.
For most of us, something has to come first when and if we change formats. Absolutely nothing says it can't be the camera, at least for Nikon users.

Any comments, pro and con, suggestions, advice - using my DX lenses on my new Z6 ?
Appreciate your input....... Ken
Use your DX lenses.
The camera will crop automatically.
Then as you can acquire FX lenses so you can utilize the full sensor you paid for.
...look at all the tables/graphs you want, you're losing some pixels <shrug> alas, alack, woe...but the MAIN thrust is what you see when you've processed. Use what you have, nobody will know the difference in the end.
Yeah, you’ll lose half the pixels. Then again some of my favorite shots were taken with a 6mp D40.

OMG! I do not know how or why that happened. I apologize for it. I have asked Admin to delete the duplicate posts.
