My grandkids were flipping thru my high school year book, strictly for laughs, when the came across my graduation picture. They wanted to know what the letters and numbers were after my name: RA 1-2507. So I gave them a history lesson on phone numbers, area codes, etc.. About an hour later my 11 year old grandson holding up his phone and pointing to the keypad said: “Hey, Gramps, these are the same letters you were talking about!”

You have to love Grandkids!!! Out of the mouths, ...

Absolutely, Mark. The joy of my life.
A friend of mine says it’s too bad we have to have kids to get the grandkids😊

Yes, we had one too in the 40's/50's. I have to admit that occasionally I did listen in on the party line. I still remember my phone number from the 40's. Asbury 6491J. (Lived near Asbury Park, NJ)

How many of you called a store and asked "Do you have Prince Albert in a can?"

I also have my cell phone and find it to be a great convenience. However, I refuse to let it take over my life.

That last image of your first set makes me think they may be texting each other! LOL

Or you would call, and when the other person answered you would say, "Would you hold the line?" After a pause you would say, "You may let go now, we have the pole in place."

The first thing the illegal immigrants ask, when they are rescued from death crossing the Meditteranean in floating death trap, by the Navy is " Where can I charge my $1000.00 iPhone.?"

Dear Friends: Check out the EVOLUTION OF MOBILE PHONES. It hard to believe these little marvels evolved from thing that looked like bricks. Back in the day, the Star Trek Communicator evolved into the flip phone. HA HA. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks mark...
I really enjoyed what you sent.
I was in the U.S.Air Force from 1958 to 1962.
I was a "Central Office Equipment Specialist".
I was responsible for repair of the equipment in the inside telephone dial equipment on my base.
I loved the work and survived the 4 years.
Although they wouldn't let me discharge because of the "Cuban Missile Crisis" for a month or two.

Charles.
