I am looking at the Canon 6d MKIOI which is now on sale at about $1200. At DPREVIEW.com, the review is not as good as I would like to see. But I wonder if they might just be biased against Canon in general. I have been all Canon for 30+ years.
Questions:
1. Has anyone in UHH used this camera and willing to share their opinion - good, bad, ugly?
2. 42nd St Photo has good prices. Are they a good place to buy?

Thank you in advance for the help.

I've been using the 6DM2 for over a year taking 99% landscape shots and with the best glass (L series) the camera is fantastic. The dynamic range is not the best but using bracketed photos and HDR processing that problem goes away. I haven't pushed the ISO past 400 so I can't speak to low light performance and noise. At 400 the image quality is fine. But having said all of this I would think you might be better off with new RP for value and the latest technology. Check out Jared Polin on youtube who recently did a fair comparison of the entire Canon line up.

Canon Price Watch has it from a Legit, authorized dealer with North American Warranty for $1399.00. This is for the Body only.

I bought the 6d2 during end of year sales. Previously, I had a 6d. Not ideal for BIF and action sports but bottom line, I really like it. The grumbling about dynamic range is BS to the vast majority of us. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending it. As others have suggested, do compare it against the RP. Also, I’ve purchased using the Canonpricewatch.com street prices and also recommend the service. It’s actually how I got my 6d four years ago. As for 47th St Photo, I agree with every one else. Stay away!

If budget is an issue consider a good used version I or II. Beware your EF-S lenses won't work on a FF camera so unless you have some good EF lenses that is another cost to consider.

Well I've had the Canon 6D Mark II for one year now, my background being a 49 year SLR/DSLR amateur that shoots mainly family gatherings, lots of landscape, some macro, occasional weddings, and other social events.
What I really like:
 * Image quality, sharp and very good color tones.
 * Ease of use, rear touch screen very easy for changing ISO, aperture, etc etc etc
* Tilt screen also a plus, something I need ro use more often.
 * Durable, besides many 3-14 day camping outings did 6k mile road trip through Rockies, week on Pacific coast, Antelope Canyon, and many other stops.  Still looks new even though not ever being bagged/cased etc, usually just kept close to hand.
 * Ergonomics, great handling and feel, prior 7D Mark II actually was bit better as a larger and heavier camera.
 * Super fast focus even in poor lighting.
 * Weight even with grip & 24-105L gives me a nice shooting base that I carry on long hikes etc. (Camera weight has NOT been an issue for me ever,  at 69 don't forsee any future issues even carrying extra water and/or a backpack - yet!)
What I don't like:
  * Battery life, doesn't seem as good as prior Rebels and 7D Mark II (all were gripped also), but really not an issue even with multiple overnight camping trips.
Personally I consider this a much better fit for me then the 7D Mark II that I had for 2 years.  I just never was really happy with that camera, knowing it is a great camera.
Interesting, both my prior Rebels are still in use with daughter and son-in-law and found when I use one of those now feels kinda underwhelming, yet I know these cameras got some great shots and still do.  The 7D Mark II I sold with 2 APS-C lens, couldn't afford to keep and purchase 6D Mark II (fixed income ya know)

Another note on purchasing, I got my 6d2 from eBay for $1349 year ago, yup gray market. Registered with Canon no problem, also at same time got 24-105L version 2 for $829 with good filter set and again registered easily with Canon. So get updates, software downloads etc etc. Canon most often doesn't have issues with warranty registration regarding gray market. check some YouTube videos in this. Vender I used w.s 6th Ave.

I've had my 6D2 for a couple of years and absolutely love it. I traded a 6D, which I also liked very much, for it. I looked at both the 5D4 and the 6D2 and chose the 6D2 not for the price but for the articulated touch screen which trumped the additional features of the 5D4 for me. No regrets. It's especially good in low light situations. I have several high quality lenses for it (16-35, 24-70, 70-200, and 90 macro). I purchased it with the optional battery grip but I rarely use it, I'd rather just carry a spare battery.

The 6d2 is available on the Canon refurb site for $1299.20 and is in stock. That's $200 better than the B&H, Adorama, etc crowd and still has a 1 year warranty.

I had two different 6Ds and loved them. I now have the 6DII and it also takes great images. I do, however, plan to also add the new RP to my collection. Forget the reviews as many of them love to trash Canon. I love the Canon colors and their cameras have never let me down.

I had a 6D which I found great for landscapes. Not fast enough for moving wildlife. The 7D is better for the wildlife side of things.

I have both 6D's and have to say I love them both. I also have a T2I for an APSC that I will upgrade at a later date. Definitely steer clear from 42ND Street Photo. Grey Market stuff and terrible on service. I would not hesitate to shop at B&H or Adorama. Two of the top US dealers and both offer great service. I have bout several pieces of gear from B&H including my L lenses and 6D's. They have been great.

I was hired by Canon to review the Canon 6D Mark II. It is a fine camera with a superb live view and articulating LCD. I wish my more expensive Canon 5D Mark IV and 1DX Mark II had the articulating LCD, but they don't. It is a fine camera for far less money than the ones I use. You will love it. Here is a link to my article.

I have a Canon 6dmk2 for sale I bought in Nov/Dec last year; so only a few months old. Approx 3500 shutter count. Comes with battery grip, 2 batteries, memory card, box and receipt from B&H Photo NY.
I paid $1300 for it and I would sell it for $1200. Basically brand new. Pay Pal only. Let me know if you're interested? PM me; Steve

I have the 6DII and was one of the first to get it. I love it. I like the articulated touch screen and use it in live view much more than I thought I would. I put a Peak Designs wrist strap on it and it makes long days with camera in hand quite tolerable. Another feature on the camera is the ability to control it from my smart phone -- a free phone app. I have used this a number of times to operate the camera remotely and to isolate it from any shutter pushing vibration. It will take a long time, if ever, to outgrow it. All that said, do look at the mirrorless model and make your choice. If that choice is the 6DII then I predict you will be quite happy with it.

I upgraded from the 70D (I still use it) to the 6D Mk II and I am extremely happy with it. Seems to me that reviews by so-called experts often go into far more depth than matters to me. All I care about is getting sharp, well exposed photos, and that's what I get with 6D Mk II.
