Wish I could be there Don! Thanks for looking-in and your comments. I'm never quite sure what constitutes a 'Steampunk', there seem to be endless variations. Still, they all look interesting.

Trump's Hairdo would qualify ! ?

" a genre of science fiction that has a historical setting and typically features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology.
" a style of design and fashion that combines historical elements with anachronistic technological features inspired by science fiction.
"the essence of steampunk is homage to vintage fashion with a modern, sassy twist"

magnetoman, you hit it on both counts... the steam machine and the style of dress....

I reckon it probably would Don - particularly if he was wearing a pair of goggles, which often seem to be another key element in the ‘look’.
As far as definition goes, any mix of the elements in your quotes is acceptable without doubt.
I will post some more shots once I get to sort them out.
Thanks for your interest and thoughts on it all.

Great job! Don't sell yourself short for not being able to create this like your son does. There are many different ways to create. Keep doing what works for you. Love the Steampunk!

Simple but very cool. Sometimes one doesn’T need a bunch of layers to create a good composite

I will include the two basic originals for interest. If anyone would like to critique or comment, please feel free - all ideas and opinions gratefully received. In case you're wondering why I didn't ask him to board the loco in the image, we didn't have access to it on the Steampunk shoot. The colour of the composite looks OK but the other two have done a 'UHH' - perhaps Linda could correct for me?

Sure, Dave I didn't bother to store original because the app I use strips exif. So people can download yours for full size, color and info, while mine show the correct colors in thumbnail.

It's not exclusively a UHH issue, though, it's most of the internet. Use sRGB color space to avoid.

Imaginative and very nicely executed. For me, seeing the original photos helps me put things in perspective. You don't just wonder about the final version, you get to see where the image came from. Not that I could replicate it; but it does give us a glimpse into your process.

Thanks Keni - now who’s the second party appearing in your new avatar?

Even so there’s quite a few Frank, some to piece that guy together and some to physically get him to fit. Life just isn’t easy for the compositor y’know! Many thanks for looking-in.

I’m never sure whether folk find the originals of interest or think ‘he’s trying to show how clever he is’ Erich - glad it’s the former for you, as intended. Thanks for your comments.

I think they're very appropriate for PP Forum. I've been trying to encourage more mini-tutorials and such. Am hoping there are folks (including the lurkers ) who are picking up tips and finding interest in the how-I-did. Thanks again for posting, Dave!

Hopefully it may encourage folk to have a go and, if they get stuck, to ask questions. Of course a lot of people are not believers in compositing and I understand their point of view (it was once my own!). I’m surprised though that there is not more discussion about general pp - Lightroom/Camera Raw and the like, almost all of use something to some degree nowadays.

That is my Jack Russell aka Manny. There are times I am ready to boot him out the door but then I couldn't imagine life without him. He tags along with me when I am out and about the city shooting in not so nice places. He wouldn't hurt a fly but he always lets me know when someone else is around, or cats.
