I've hated them for 34 yrs. When I had a white, long haired Maltese, she would always bring a few stuck, like Velcro, all up and down her paws. She walked funny getting back to the house. LOL

Check out the DL's.

Good shots. Nasty looking stuff.

Thanks, Rich. Yes, they are nasty things. On very windy days the house gets pummeled and it wakes you up if at night. Dogs get them tangled up in their fur, the lawn mower kicks them out the chute and don't even try going barefoot in the grass. You think stepping on a Lego is bad....
Thankfully, they do get chopped up from cutting the lawn but it takes a while. You can't even rake them up. They just stick to the grass blades and refuse to go along with the rake.

Thanks for stopping in for a look. They are a very strong breed of tree and live a very long time.

These don't look like any gumballs I've ever seen! Love the first capture!

Glad you like them, Linda. I really don't know of any other tree with that kind of seed pod.

They look so cool tho! How big is each ball? They are kind of like Burrs--get tangled in horses tails!

They probably average about 1" diameter. They stick to things like Velcro would.
