I know that I would be welcome, as you would be over here; However my next few years are completely booked out - a wedding in Scotland, a visit to the Philippines and several trips to the other side of Oz

Cool safe trip mate would love to spend 6 months in the down under, a lot of beautiful sights and things to do......

Planning a Texas Wild Flowers photo trip to central Texas in about two weeks - any status on the wildflowers from Texas Hedgehogs would be appreciated. Would you recommend the last week in March or the first week in April?

The end of March to the middle of April is usually the best time. Ennis just South of Dallas has amny blue bonnet trails with great photo ops. Check out this web site.

In Austin, the Indian paintbrush and bluebonnets are already in full bloom. We are due east of Fredericksburg so image that the Wildseed Farm is also in full bloom over there.

We've seen a lot of flowers - mainly bluebonnets - in the Lake LBJ area, which is just below Inks Lake; better patches than some years, it seems. Some patches started blooming quite early, but other plants are barely starting to bloom. Your route sounds good! I expect the bluebonnets will be good for several more weeks in the Hill Country; and more varieties of wildflowers will join them, for more varied color. The Visitor Center in downtown Marble Falls has a map with suggested routes; they might be a good resource for current status, if you drive through there.

I plan to make a trip into the Hill Country on March 22nd, even though there is currently a 50% chance of rain that day. My itinerary will include Willow City Loop, SH 16 from Fredericksburg to Cherokee including Babyhead Cemetery, SH 29 from Burnet to Mason, and Park Road 4 near Inks Lake and Longhorn Caverns. My SUV (with my photo business logo and contact info on the rear window) is about to log a lot of miles that day. Hopefully I'll see some of the Texas Hedgehogs along the way!

I drove through Fredericksburg last week. There were NO flowers blooming. Even the Wildflower Seed Center was bare. I have reports of flowers in San Antonio and down toward Rockport. It's scattered around Austin.

Between corpus christi and San antonio on I 37 which I travel twice or three times a week, there are plenty of bluebonnets and Indian paintbrushes. I will try to download a pic of my cell.

I went out today with my wife along the route I mentioned earlier. The north end of Willow City Loop had some great patches, some of them hidden. 29 from Llano to Mason (including Castell) had some very solid patches. Babyhead Cemetery on 16 was a disappointment; I'll likely go back there in a couple of weeks if I have a chance. I'm sure I went out a little early, but I needed to get something just in case I didn't make it back. Like I said, I plan to go back to Babyhead soon.
