It used to be I could search for a topic and get instant results. Now, why is it I get only page after page of links and never an answer to my question? There was an article about "skip scanners" leaving Walmart and I did a search "What is a skip scanner?" and never did find out. Clicking on a link just takes me to more pages with more links. I give up!

"GOOGLE" quit being a search-engine a few years ago. They decided it was more profitable just being the "Information Operator" that we used to get by dialing the letter "O". All they are good for now is phone numbers. Basically, Google is worthless.

Thanks everyone for the info on skip scanners, but that still doesn't moderate my frustration with the search engines just giving lots more pages of links instead of giving info on the item in question.

If you are running Windows 10, the search box at the bottom of the screen and just to the right of the Win logo is Bing. It opens on my 2nd monitor, but it works just fine with one monitor. I typed, "skip scanner" into the search box. This is the result: https://www.bing.com/search?q=skip+scanner&form=WNSGPH&qs=AS&cvid=7a2f4a51489e42e4983891fc4f3d3eb2&pq=skip+scanner&cc=US&setlang=en-US&nclid=89AA964640C25A38D19105E4D2B1B3BC&ts=1552743042310&elv=AXK1c4IvZoNqPoPnS%21QRLOOCKOVcKE9aN*Cgjtb0YSt8eyFczWUFou4WwvsIxFk6Zgc6brzQwiR6JYCS%21zxzi4l5Slhr9XqDY*4Daq3c5FIE&wsso=Moderate

the first searches to appear are paid links.....you need to go down the search result pages "below the line" which marks the end of paid and start of random searches. I keep 4or5 search engines in my browser to use. Google is the last choice. At one time there were lots of search engine choices, but they are all getting consolidated so no choice. it's becoming a monopoly

Companies and businesses pay Google to feed advertisements to you. I have noted that the ads posing as answers are listed first and what I am looking for way down the list, if at all.

Its all about money. That is why you can only pull up pages and pages of sites that will get the information for you for a fee. As Judge Roy Bean would say...."Piss on 'em!"

When your search engine says you have 3,428,152 hits did you ever wonder what was on number 1,768,012?
I want to know what in on those pages!

bing.com is a better search engine than google. Better results, far more honest, less bias and censorship. And unlike google, not EVIL.

That's because they're trying to direct you to what THEY want you to see, not what you want to see. They are a propaganda machine. They want to mold your mind into their way of thinking. They do not want you to research a subject for independent thought. They want you to be a good little lemming.

I too recommend DuckDuckGo.com. Much better than Google.
