I was upgrading a D7000 that I mostly used a 17-50mm F/2.8 on. But I shoot the local festivals often and rotated various primes and 70-300mm on it too. So I ordered the D750 and a 70-200mm f/2.8. Waiting for delivery a friend offered me a great deal on D800. So I bought it and a 24-70mm.
So I have two FX a 24-70mm 70-200mm.
I don't like having two different models. It slows me down. I've learned both cameras rather well, but it always takes a moment and thought to execute a change in setup. Most of it is really the same. The command dials work the same, ISO buttons are located differently. OK button is different on the D800. Menus are different, but those I am likely to change in the field are on the easy access lists.
I would not trade the D750mm for a D800 nor would I trade the D800 for a D750. I'd trade them both for two D810s. D850s are out of my price range. I'm also tempted to add a Nikon Df, bought used. The rush to the D850 is leaving some really good deals in the used market.
All of a sudden I'm not satisfied with the zooms. I really prefer primes. So I may add a 135mm f/1.8 to my bag. I don't know what I'll mount on the second camera. 24-70mm or a 50mm?
I do enjoy carrying two camera bodies.
I am an amature and take the second camera just incase the primary camera fails. therefore the second camera is usually my older camera when I got the last newer camera.

All of the above?
I think more about the lenses than the bodies when I carry two cameras.

When I take two cameras, one is a Nikon D7200 and the other is my Canon PowerShot SX50. I bring the SX50 mainly because of the 1200mm zoom capability.
I kept my XT2 when I bought the XT3 last fall, so, if I need to carry two bodies, I carry those!
Z7 and D500. 24-70 S, 70-300 FP, 18-80 DX. That makes up my travel kit. Several primes for use on either body.
I carry two only because the "purse" camera is stored in my backpack purse. Lately, that is all I use. Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS-60, and Pentax K-50
6 Canon 5D m111 Bodies along qwith 4 Eos 1Dx bodies, 13 lenses from 15m to 400 m, extra bat, chargers filters and 90 32 g CF cards....for an average shoot...
Can be even more complicated due to Art Directors assignments...

I carry a Canon 5D IV and a 7D II. Why, because one give me the advantages of a full frame and the other has the 1.5 advantage. I use no "S" lenses so all my lenses fit both. My lens caps are marked (ie. 100-150/150-225) os I know in a glance what lens I want for each camera.
AND BEST OF ALL THEY BOTH FEEL AND OPERATE THE SAME IN MY HAND. ALL THE CONTROLS ARE THE SAME BY FEEL. I DON'T HAVE TO EVEN KNOW WHICH CAMERA I AM WORKING WITH.
I have the same 2 cameras. I usually only carry one camera... I'm using the 7D2 on bright days for the extra reach (with a 2X TC + 400 DO f/4 or 2X TC + 600 f/4) and the 5D4 with lower light conditions for the noise handling quality. The 5D4 with the extra pixels and better noise handling makes up for the shorter reach, even in good light, but especially in lower light. The 7D2 + 2X TC + 600 f/4 gives you 1920 mm, which really helps for little birds that don't like you getting too close.

Wow! It would be interesting if you could take us through one of your assignments some day.
Of course, most of us hobbyists are debating the advantages (and disadvantages) of changing lenses at all - which is why two cameras set up can be a good idea and provide a back up at the same time. Necessarily our cameras are treated with loving care - so one back-up is usually sufficient.

What lens is usually on your D7200? How useable are your1200 mm shots?
I only have 2 cameras a Canon D800 (T7i) and a Canon SX50 the SX50 is usually my carry camera because it always has the right lens. and the long lens shots are not to bad

6 Lords a-leaping, la-la la-la ...
and a partridge in a pear tree :-)
For my work it's similar, but the
geese a-laying are most critical.
Without them, I'm nowhere !
.
Both the same. Easier to figure out operations when switching back and forth and also, both take the same cards. I typically keep my go to lens 24-120mm on one body and then a telephoto zoom on the other. Mostly a 200-500mm.

Main camera - D810, backup, D800. D800 is older, and I still like better for landscape.
