Like Don, I carry a crop and full frame. Mine are the D7000 and D800. On vacations I leave a Tamron 10-24mm dedicated wide angle on the D7000 and for the most part use a Nikon 24-70 f2.8 on the D800. If length is needed I also have the 70-200 and 28-300 in my bag. Having two cameras like this, one crop and one full frame decreases the need for lens swapping. I've done that and it's a pain.

My primary pair of bodies are the Nikon D850 and D500. FF and Crop sensor versions of the same bodies. No confusion as to controls that way and I can quickly choose which format I need for which lens selection I want.

My glove box camera is an Exakta VX or VX500 depending which has film. Both easy to use and inexpensive
to own, the Zeiss optics are fantastic. David C.

Pretty much same for me. Identical or nearly so.

Fortunately, I haven't indulged in top tier, state
of the art stuff. So it's not expensive to pair up
identical bodies. I can see where some folks are
using a lesser body for back-up cuz the primary
body is a few thousand sheckels :-(

===========================

I have 2 models of m43, and each is a twin pair
[IOW 4 bodies] and those are small and easy to
carry with a lens on each. No lens swapping in
the blowing dust etc. I have pairs of Sony a7-II
and a6500 bodies. But for a7-II it's really just a
"CYA back-up body" situation. I would not carry
... for simultaneous usage of the pair ... two FF
cameras with large lenses already fitted for use.
Thaz a job I reserve for APSC and m43.

I use a Nikon D7200, and a Nikon D750. They can use the same lenses, and same batteries, and same speedlights. What one lacks, feature wise, the other has. Both have very similar controls. Both are good in low light, though one is better. Both were available used / refurbished, for affordable prices. I got both used & refurbed for what the D750 alone would have cost new. Both produce great images. One is Crop Frame, and the other is Full Frame. Both have dual memory card slots. Both have 24MP sensors (24.3 on the D750, and 24.2 for the D7200). There are numerous references available on both. I have half a dozen E-Books / Audible Books dedicated to these cameras, which detail their features, how to use them, what they are capable of, etc. That helps in learning how to get the most from the cameras. So, I have what was-until recently-the top Nikon Crop Frame camera, and a good mid level Full Frame camera. Together they let me do what I want to do. They allow me to shoot still photos, and videos, and achieve results worth the effort. It works for me. Other people will have different choices for different reasons. To each his / her own.

M3
My primary "larger" camera is a Panasonic GX8 and I have a long reach zoom lens for it. My secondary camera is a Panasonic Lumix LX100 compact. The two give me an equivalent field of view equal to about 24mm to 800mm with a gap between 100 and 200. Total weight is only about 5 pounds.

Alternately I will go "heavy" with the GX8 and 28 to 280 (equivalent field of view) single lens or "light" with LX100 and its 24 to 75 (equivalent field of view).

I've never, ever seen anyone else equipped they way I am! Even with a tripod I can put it all in small bag under 8 pounds and cover landscapes to wildlife.

You can see I am also an M43 shooter with two bodies. I don't do Vid so no need for me to upgrade from G5. I have the G3 to save changing lenses, it is also the smallest and lightest of the G series. My lenses are all Panny - 14-45, 45-150, 35-100. (x2 = 35mm equiv. for the un-initiated). The 35-100 is tiny, and coupled with the G3 makes a really small and unobtrusive walk about combo. Have a good day

It has worked out well for me, as I do not need to change lenses when going from landscape to wildlife, it is tough to get a quick shot of a bird or other wildlife when you need to change the lens in order to get the reach needed for a good shot.

Same for me.

Sometimes when I am in Florida Wetlands I carry a D850 with a 300 F4 and a Nikon D500 with the 500 5.6. So I can cover near and far. Sometimes if I want to capture sunrise with a full horizon, I will replace the 300 on the D850 with the 24-70 2.8. The D850 is on a spyder belt so I am only carrying one camera in my hands at a time. I do not like the second camera to be loosey goosey on a shoulder strap.
Generally speaking I use the D850 for landscapes and the D500 for wildlife. BUT, that said I do sometimes load the new Nikon 500 5.6 on the D850 if I know the birds and/or wildlife will be close. And in this case the Nikon 300 f4 is on the D500 which is on the spyder belt.
To conclude my remarks I sometimes carry 2 D500's, one with the 300 f4 and one with the 500 5.6.
It all depends on where I am and what I am going to shoot.

I have a Canon 7D MII that I usually keep a 24-70 2.8L and a 5DMIV that I keep a 7-200mm 2.8L on them while shooting events. I also have a 7D as another backup. Since I'm a hobby photographer I tend to upgrade when getting an itch for a new camera.

D610 with a 28-300 and a cell phone. My wife, on the other hand, schleps a couple of cameras and lenses around. That may end this coming summer she is complaining about the weight.

two olympus E-m1 bodies. Seemless transission. Plan on upgrading one at a time. I know there will be some differences ,but that will work out. I started with a fuji s-x1 then added the olympus. Now that was a juggling act. Updating to the e-m1 mii will be a challenge, but not so much as before.
