My camera is a Canon 5D Mk IV I however, recently sold my Sony RX100 Mk IV to buy a Canon EOS M50. Twofold reason, its small and pocketable with either the 22mm f/2 pancake lens or the new 32 mm f/1.4 lens plus it takes interchageable lens. I bought an 18-150mm f/5.6-6.3 Zoom and found it an ideal travel camera for my wife and with a ef-m to ef adapter had an added benefit of getting a lot more reach with one of my long ef lens attached to the cameera with the adapter, if I needed to. It is fast 10 fps and had Dual Pixel AF shoots 4k video. I even bought a focal reducer/Speed Booster which sort of gives a FF field of view when in 4K plus an extra stop when using EF lens with it.

I really like the camera and with the adapters allows me to leverage the many EF lens I own. By the way I believe even EF-S lens will work with the EF-M to EF Adapter.

The menu system is very good and easy to use like their EOS DSLR's. The Touch screen and AF work well but not as well as the Sony Eye detect (which the M50 doesn't have).

Great price and good value for an entry level mirrorless camera.

There are other brands of course, but since you are familiar with Canon's EOS range the transition will be preetty much seamless.

Good luck.

have had the M50 for about a year now. Love it. I bought it to have a lightweight camera for landscape shots when i travel. I keep a 100-400mm on my 5D MkIII and I keep the M50 on a Cotton Carrier locking cam on my belt. The M50 with the kit 15-45mm.

the best part, is with an adapter, if my 5D MkIII dies on the road, I can put use my 100-400mm on the M50. Works like a charm.

Very happy with this system and travel with it frequently. Wish i had this option years ago. Beats my previous combination of 5D MIII and Lumix (no viewfinder pocket camer) or cell phone.

Just note: M series lenses are for M series cameras only. At least, that is my understanding. I doubt there is an adapter to use them on other series.

No, Paul - but, there ARE adapters to allow use of both EF-S and EF lenses on the M series - right?

Semantics. I meant I doubt you can use M series lenses on other series bodies, even with adapters. However I said you can use DSLR lenses (by which I meant EF or EF-S) on M bodies.

Just looked things up in the B&H Catalogue, Paul - and I don't actually SEE any adapters which will allow the use of EF lenses on the M5, M6, m50 or M100 … but, I'm pretty sure there must be - especially for EF-S lenses, anyway … since the M series are all APS-C bodies. But, couldn't find any adapters ….

But, then - I'm notoriously lazy, and unless it blinks back at me with colored lights, I, pretty much - give up!

B&H has at least 3 different brands of adapters for EF/EF-S to M mounts. I got the Vello brand when I purchased my M50 and it works well. Refine your search and you should be able to see them all. I have used the adapter with the EF-S 10-22 and the EF 100-400 and both worked with the M50.

I guess you are. You seem to challenge everything.

Thanks, Joe … as I indicated earlier - I looked them up in the Catalogue - not - on-line. I also indicated I had believed both kinds of adapters WERE available (EF, EF-S) but could not find them IN the Catalogue!!!

No challenge, Paul … just indicated I could not find them in the PRINTED catalogue.

I also acknowledged their existence, even tho' I could not find them in the seasonal catalogue.

B&H sends me a new copy via the US Mail - four times a year. No lights, but, pretty comprehensive!!!

i love it. lightweight. versatile. My wife has the Sony 6300. Really bad battery life. I am convincing her to switch to the M50. Better battery life (still not great...but much, much better than the 6300). Very pleased with the M50. As stated, i carry 2 cameras; one on shoulder sling (5D Mk iii/100-400 lens and the other on my belt M50/15-45mm. This is a potent combo that i have grown to love. I know others will point out other cameras, but i love Canons with Canon lenses. Great. Also, as stated, the ability to throw my big lens on the M50 relieves anxiety in case the 5D dies and obviates the need to carry a second camera body in my camera backpack. Good luck with your decision.
