Just returned form a SE Asia Cruise that included Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, 4 ports in Vietnam, Hong Kong then back to Singapore. Having not been to Vietnam in 50 years thought this would be an excellent opportunity to re-visit, in a different way. Nha Trang is a small port city along the central Hignhlands coast. Being then stationed about 30 miles west and 40 miles north of Nha Trang in the Central Highlands gives a much different perspective when you see it today. Spent some time in Nha Trang during the war and the tallest building I saw and stayed in was the Nha Trang Hotel. Not to mention the White Buddha I always flew around when approaching the airfield.
Amazing what a little Capitalism and Entrepreneurship can do. Vietnam has become the fastest growing country in SE Asia and is doing quite well. People then an now are still extremely friendly and courteous. As always the water and beaches along the Vietnam cost is stunningly beautiful. Things only got better as our ship moved up the coast. Vietnam is still an agrarian country with lots of poverty but its rapidly growing and the coastal cities are great examples. However after those 50 years, the changes were awesome.
Just a few photos from Nha Trang showing the high rises and some of the local flavor.
Very nice set.
THanks for taking us there.

Thanks for looking, appreciate it Richard
Thank you Bob, I'd go back in a second. As a side note in the download of the amusement park, those silver domes around the 'Wheel' are all orchid houses. Due to time didn't get there but supposedly a great exhibit.
Superb work that catches the essence of Vietnam. Beautifully rendered.

Terrific. Thanks for sharing these with us. Looks a lot different than when I was there one day and night in 1969.

Stayed in town someplace-don’t remember where. I do remember going to dinner at a nightclub(?) with a white clamshell backdrop. Couldn’t believe that such a place would exist in a war zone! I came from Phouc Vin where the First Cav had its headquarters—what an experience. But I had to go back to PV unfortunately.
Will look forward to more of your photos.

The Nha Trang Hotel was about the tallest building in Nha Trang at the time, right across from the MAC-V compound. I spent an afternoon and night there then back to An Khe in the Highlands....Welcome Home
