These shots were taken on Fir Island in Skagit County Washington last Tuesday. It was a clear, cold day. Thousands of snow geese were leisurely spending the day pecking in the mud and grass when an eagle flew by. Then this happened. It's the closest I have been to a snow goose explosion in quite awhile. I was lucky not to get pooped on. Taken with a Nikon D500 and a Tamron 150x600MM G2 lens. I welcome your comments/criticisms/suggestions.

Cool - now that is allot of Goose (Geese). That last one would be a great screen saver. I love the texture of it.

Fantastic! I hope you bought a lottery ticket after the luck of the no-poop flyover

Great shot I haven't seen that many Snow Geese in years. If you look carefully in the center of each picture you will see a Ross Goose.

Thanks Linda. That's funny - and not a bad idea. I have been splattered in the past on several occasions.

Great shot I haven't seen that many Snow Geese in ... (show quote)

You're probably right. I did also see a single blue goose on the ground prior to the explosion.

Great shots. You should go to http://www.jigzone.com, join and make an online jigsaw puzzle out of one of those. That would be fun to work!

GREAT set. That lens is capturing alot of great shots. I shoot Canon 7D and 1D mkiv with a 100-400L. But, I really like this lens from photos and reviews. I think I'm getting GAS attack. Again, great set.

Thanks. I've posted some other sets here on UHH I've taken with that camera/lens combination if you care to take a look. For the money, I believe it is an excellent lens especially if you have decent light. The debate is usually between the Tamron 150x600MM G2 and the Nikon 200x500MM, f/5.6. But since you're a Canon shooter, the choice is obvious.
