I'm 85 years young and just had mine done. You'll be surprised at the difference. I can now see driving at night, and no longer need reading glasses unless the print is very.

Be careful about having both cataracts operated on at the same time. If anything goes wrong like infection it happens to both.

SOP is a two week interval between eyes. At least that was true for my wife's and my operations.

After I had my procedure I learned that I was looking at the world through a sepia filter.

Retinal detachment is a potential side effect, the risk being higher in near-sighted eyes. I had this issue in both eyes. It was about 6 months after surgery in one eye, and over a year later for the other. Get seen immediately at any sign of vision issues after the surgery. I was fortunate that they were able to repair each eye with minimal permanent damage. My other advice for those considering it (besides getting it done), is to forget the "trick" lenses and go with a simple single focal length option. Also consider having the focal distance set a bit near-sighted, rather than to "distance" (and continue with glasses full time). Life is lived up close. Get glasses, with a good pair of progressive lens, and you will see fine at all distances. And you will never need to hunt for your readers!

I have found the hardest part of this is the many eye drops one has to have.

I had laser cataract surgery on both eyes at the same time. I, too, was amazed at the improvement of vision.

Wow! I had my left cataract removed today and it's amazing how much brighter EVERYTHING is! So I looked at some of my favorite shots and what a change. The difference between looking with my right eye vs the left eye is amazing. My calibrated monitor is now much brighter and whiter. Like going from f/16 to f/4 with color correction.

If you have cataracts and like to take photos, get your eyes fixed. Your photos will look much, much better. Next week they remove the right cataract and I just may have to reprint all my wall hangings.
Wow! I had my left cataract removed today and it's... (show quote)

To be quite honest, if it wasn't for the card I carry in my wallet, I would never remember which eye the cataract was removed from. it was my right eye and right from the "get go," I saw no difference after the operation from before the operation.

You are one of the first I heard indicating it made no difference. I think that is very unusual.
Sorry it did not,

That’s interesting. They did my left eye which had poor sight for other reasons, but the clarity improved a lot nonetheless.

My wife was myopic all her life - her normal focusing distance was about 6 inches and she had astigmatism. Her glasses looked like the bottom of an old Coke bottle. She had the cataract surgery plus insertion of Torik lenses and the improvement was miraculous. She still needs glasses but the corrections are minor. She can see multiple stars and indeed the Milky Way now at night for the first time in her life and she is so grateful. Medicare paid for the cataract surgery but she had to pay $900 each for the Torik lenses. Needless to say we consider that a bargain.

I have cataracts as well, but my ophthalmologist says to wait until they get a lot worse - he sees something else in there he doesn't like. He says the surgery might run into complications - that I would not go blind but might then have to have more operations. When the fellow who does cataract surgery says wait - I wait.

I had both eyes done a week apart. Keeping up with the eye drops can be interesting when you have the second one before finishing with first. The first thing I noticed was at night. Cars didn’t have eight or more taillights.

I had both of eyes done back this past June. I do have glaucoma also and was on crops twice a day. I was really freaking out over this as I kept telling them that I love my cameras and taking pictures. They assured me all would be just fine and I could continue to take my pictures. So WHY am I writing well it is to tell you that when they give you the odds you think not me. Well my both eyes are messed up they have like a hazy over them and I keep wiping them like I was a kid with sleepy men in them. They tell me my vision is now 20/20 and my readers are a 1.5 from a 2.5. All of the drops they have given me to try have not helped at all. The worse part of it is no one can give me a correct answer to what the hell is wrong with them or if they can be fixed. My glaucoma pressure is down to 16 in both eyes and they have taken me off the drops for now. Wish I had never had them done ever day that I open my eyes.

To make my life more interesting (I guess) I had my cataracts done about 2 weeks apart. Between operations I got a very nasty case of the shingles! The cataract surgery came out perfect. Night driving is back to being 20 years old
