The perfect pet photo. Frame it and keep it in a location that you look at often. It is a photo I'll share with my dog loving family.

Dave,
you ask: “Is it more than a snapshot? “ No...but you ask it as if it were a bad thing. To my mind, to “snap-shoot” is to make maximal effort to capture a moment without the luxury of the opportunity to accommodate to all the other concerns we would address had we more than a moment ....

...and the clutter of vegetation and sky outside the window complements that inside...for is not any landscape a clutter of sorts?

It well bespeaks the comfort of a familiarly cluttered retreat where anyone, having been the agent of the cluttering, would find comfort and relaxation in quiet times spent there. Lucy clearly agrees!

Excellent capture!

Dave

I wouldn't change a thing. A Snapshot? This is a portrait!

Your image would stop any dog owner in his/her tracks. The first thing I saw was an elderly dog surrounded by elderly things sleeping in the sunshine. Just your friend in a relaxed moment.

I would make the largest print the image would take, frame it, hang it in an appropriate place. When the time comes, look at occasionally and remember the fun times. So many pets I've had over the years I only have one or two pictures. Treasure this portrait, it's special.

Taking advantage of some unseasonably warm weather, Lucy finds the perfect spot in our rather cluttered conservatory to do a bit of sunbathing. We'll worry about the walk later. Taken from my armchair, this is lazy photography for sure, but the clutter and her serenity appealed. Does it make anything other than a snapshot? Your opinion, critique, comments welcome and appreciated.

An ahhhh, (Kodak moment, as they use to say) Dave. Timing couldn't have been more perfect, while tighter crop would be subjective, but not necessary. I love it as is and wouldn't change a thing.

The context placement of the spinning wheel and chair creates a (framing) leading line to Lucy and I'm sure that was your intention. A well composed image, whether it's considered a snapshot or not, doesn't matter IMO. Yes, framing this would be in order.

The clutter for me makes the shot. Without all clutter their would be no framing of the star os the shot. It would just be a picture of your pooch. Among all the items in the shot is a very serene dog. Maybe dreaming of that walk you mentioned but only under ideal weather conditions.

You’re right I suspect Frank, she dreams of two things, walks and food, in reverse order! Thanks for looking-in.

It took me a couple of seconds to see the center of attention. Then it all fell into place. I just wonder, if the dog was saturated just a bit, and/or the surroundings de-saturated just a bit, what affect it would have. Just a thought. Try it or not, on a copy. I agree, what a beautiful image you have to re-live precious moment.

She has a small partner in crime, they make a great pair. Thanks for leaving your thoughts on it Linda, good to know there’s more of us around.

Between the Spinning Lady and the dog(s), it’s not easy to find a spot in there Dave! Many thanks for your comments.

That’s a good idea curmudgeon, may well do just that. Thanks for your thoughts on it.

Thanks Dave. Yes, it’s certainly not posed or contrived, just a ‘Lucy moment’.

I like it as is, the clutter elements add interest for me.
