Image taken on the side of Burtonville Rd, located in Fultonville, NY. I was drawn to the scene by the colorful flowers and tried to compose a pleasing photo by incorporating the fence and forest in the background. The focus is on the flowers and the background is intentionally softer to not distract from the main subject. I Intended the picture to invoke memories of carefree drives along rural roads.

Critique, comments and suggestions always welcomed. Thanks.

Very nice shot Bmac.

Suggestion: Just playing with the scroll bar on the download I thought that a 16:9 (+/-) format taking some of the trees off the top - top of fence at about third point - brought a lot more emphasis to the flowers. Looking at the full fame again I think the trees want to carry the eye up towards the top and tending towards overshooting the flowers.

Thanks for commenting Guyserman. It was a pretty scene, but it was hotter than hades that day.

You make a valid point Phil, so here is a 16:9 format of the photo. Thanks for your idea.

Enjoyed your vision of "along the road" scene. I prefer the cropped version and 1 more PP option of darkening the tree trunk. Thanks, Bev

I am in agreement on the crop. I think it brings the focus back to the flowers and it should. You did a very nice job capturing them.

I always like it when I can see one or two of the flowers up close so that I can see their details and shape, while the rest of the flowers etc form the background. Perhaps this particular scene didn't lend itself to such a composition.

Thanks for your thoughts Bev. I, too, like the cropped version and may either darken or eliminate the tree trunk. At times, I am reluctant to remove too many elements from a landscape image, but rather tend to leave what the scene literally was. In this case, however, I am being swayed.

Thanks for taking a look and commenting Keni. The crop seems to be the way to go with this photo.

A very valid point R.G. and I wish I had taken another shot as you describe. Thanks for the suggestion.
