These were taken with a Kodak Ektra 35mm camera and copied yesterday. The beaches in ascending order are: Makapu, Hanauma Bay, Waimea, and Waikiki. This was one year after statehood and there were no crowds anywhere during the two years we lived there. A wonderful time in our lives, for sure.

Ahhhh, the Pink Palace in all her youthful glory!

Cheers!

Everyone is looking at your photos - I'm thinking about you shooting with the more rare and unusual Ektra.

It developed a shutter curtain problem and I traded it for an Alpa 6b even up with a photographer with the Honolulu Newspaper. I really liked the Alpa and it served me well for many years.

When I arrived in Honolulu, I was so fortunate to rent a place on the highest street on the side of diamond head facing Eva. My new bride-to-be was delighted with my choice. Here is what greeted us every morning at 3209 Collins st.

I too have fond memories of the Honolulu area when I worked Tiger Team jobs at Pearl Harbor during the 80s & 90s.
Just take a look at 3209 Collins St now, thanks to Google Maps. Place "3209 Collins Street, Honolulu, HI" (without quotes) in the Google maps search bar) and hit enter.
When the map version comes up click on the bottom picture on the left column to get different photo views of your former home and the surrounding area.
I'm sorry but the link does not work for this address for me.

Aaaaaahhhhhh Hawaii,

Glad to hear you liked the photos along with some of the others who also had their memories awoken. I love "Google Maps". It's really great for lots of things, including finding venues and getting reviews of them.--------Streets

Cool photos. My first trip there was in 1966, to Waikiki and Kauai. In 1966, Kauai was really undeveloped. I rented a Honda 90 for a half day and rode through the sugar cane fields and other places. We love Hawaii, and go there almost every year now, usually to our timeshare in Kauai.
