It is too bad that he has gone to digital. I preferred print.

You can always print them. And Re-Print them for the frequent updates!

I recommend both books (and the wildlife book, if that is your thing). You could not do better. He is not only great at sharing technical information in a way that makes it very clear and usable, he's a very engaging writer so that the books are fun as well as useful. His book on Nikon focus changed the way I take photos. His exposure book is doing that for me in new ways. They are worth every penny and more.

Can't speak to exposure, but really liked the way Steve presented the focus book. Still learning this one.

I’m happy to hear about these books. When I first got my D7000 I told myself I was gonna take the time to learn all the focus modes and then I was gonna take the time to learn all the metering modes. When I upgraded to the D7200 I told myself the same thing, but I’ve continued to use them pretty much like I did the D40, which I used pretty much like my old film cameras, (with the addition of autofocus). These books are exactly what I need!

I like to highlight and mark my pages for easy reference. Cannot do that with digital.

Yes you can.

His video tutorials are also worth looking at. I have learnt so much from Steve’s books and videos.

I have both the Exposure & Metering and the Nikon AF Systems book. Both are excellent books that reads like someone is talking to you rather then lecturing to you. I was able to load both on my laptop and on the two Kindles that I have (a reader and a regular color Kindle). Both are in Adobe Acrobat Reader format. With the two Kindles I can use it as a reference. I found that you should have your Camera nearby as he goes through, with menu screen shots, various settings for Focus and Exposure for each Camera so you can follow through and see what he is talking about.

I have both books. Mr. Perry is a great teacher. His books are written in a non-condescending manner for both newbie or expert and both levels...would be comfortable with the material. You will learn...learn...learn! I can't image that even the most 'Tenured Photog.' amongst the UH membership would not discover a number of subjects...either they've forgotten...or newly acquired.

Steve Perry is my go to guy. There is a lot of great information from him. Art of the Image had one on Nikon auto focusing. He goes into detail. Another one is the Nikon user guide. I just got a Nikon 7100 . It was an up grade from the Nikon 5100.
