I had one too, and went looking for it as well as an old Royal
vintage manual typewriter and couldn't find either of them.

What I did find brought back many memories of my mother, who
passed a little over two years ago. Mom was a very "crafty" person, and
was always working on some kind of project for church or the senior
center.

One of the crafts she taught me was making dream catchers. It took me
a little while, mostly because I have two left thumbs, but as I got better, my
two oldest granddaughters took an interest, so I was able to spend many,
many hours with them coming up with some beauties that they went door
to door selling so they could have some spending money.

Here are a couple I came across.

Pg. 5 - Love all of these, Lesley, but in the last one, the
black iron pan caught my eye, as well as the corn on the cob
holder...unfortunately, my doctor won't let me use my 50 to
70 year old, well seasoned black ironpans anymore, but man,
they sure could put a sear on things!

Photogirl, on pg 17, pics 1 & 2 - all the animals look like multiples of a single one; is it for real or are those pics a photo montage?

Pg. 6 - Wonderful memories, Bob, in those images!

I'm guessing most of those were shot in the early '50s...
be sure to pass them on to your family...

Pg. 7 - Another great set, Lesley. I don't think I've ever
seen a water fountain like that, but I sure do recognize
the treadle sewing machine.

Here's a few more from the archives...

From the Historic town of Metamora, Indiana, on the Whitewater Canal...
Touristy kind of place with old buildings and businesses...
Cookie Jars, to ice cream cones, with a Hershey Kiss in the bottom...

Pg. 7 - Great challenge, Dana, and another wonderful series of
eclectic images. I was really intrigued by the image with all the
cookie jars...but I noticed a "significant" one was missing...one
of the Aunt Jemima cookie jars...I have one somewhere...

Yeah, I thought so; I don't like these much, unless there's some artistic invention. Thanks for honesty!

Here’s what makes me nostalgic - the beautiful (at least to us hams) Collins 75A4 / KWS1 radio station. Introduced around 1956, I drooled over the ads, but didn’t have a prayer of owning one as a kid (you had to be a pretty well-heeled adult also). Years later in 1968, we had 3 of these systems at the MARS station in DaNang, RVN, and we’d work the Hughes station in Ohio for hours every night allowing GIs to “phone home” from 13,000 miles away. Finally, around 1990, I was able to pick up the entire station, one piece at a time, refurbish it and use it on the air for many years before finally selling it to buy a satellite radio system. Kind of wish I hadn’t - they’re VERY collectible now. One of the finest radios ever built.
Here’s what makes me nostalgic - the beautiful (at... (show quote)

Remember running the MARS station in Coldbay Alaska. Don't remember what we had for a radio, but I'm sure it was a Collins.

I am super sentimental about some things and my husband is definitely a "collector" of everything and everything has a story. Memories are something no one can steal from your heart, however, they can make a heart overflow in both happiness and sorrow - sorrow that those who helped create the memories are no longer "here" - the circle of life. The posts are bringing a flood of memories.

Pg 8 - Wonderful memories and beautifully written story, Pat.
Thank you so much for sharing.

Another great challenge, there are not enough hours in the day to comment on all the wonderful stories and pictures, thank you everyone for sharing, I am so enjoying everyone's contributions.

Pg. 10 - What a wonderful series, Kay. I loved the old cookie jar,
and really loved the image of your brother and father camping.

That one brought back tons of memories...we went to most of the
campgrounds in PA back in the '50s, and in the '60s, we started
camping on an island on the Susquehanna river...tons and tons
of memories from that era for sure.
