Rich, I recently photographed for a client at a car show. Over the course of the time I was there, I took approximately 175 photographs. When I returned home, I downloaded them, backed them up, and then had PS process and resize them programmatically. I ate dinner while the PS did the work.

I'll add my voice to the chorus of those that use Photoshop and never open LR. If I were a pro with thousand of images to process on a regular basis it would certainly be worth looking into LR. If you don't have a large workload I don't see the need.

I work with an average of 500 new photos each day and I never open Lightroom, not since I learned how to use Bridge for my cataloging purposes and Photoshop for everything else.

I am considering a 2017 - 27" iMac to replace my 2012 - 21.5 , My question is about PSCC, I see that the basic plan also includes both versions of lightroom, can I use PSCC without using Lightroom ? .
I have no desire or need to use either.I have my own catalog system set up and it works very well for my use.
Thank you for your help
Frank

Absolutely. I have never used Lightroom and never missed it. I do like Bridge however.

Yes. But, I would urge you to take a look at Lightroom Classic anyway, as it is the best photo cataloging program on the market, and also has batch editing capabilities which can save a huge amount of time vs. performing the same edits individually in PS. Most users employ LR for cataloging and basic edits, then launch PS when its special capabilities are called for. In my case, that's maybe 5% of the time.

There are (some) open-source, that are "competitve" with LR....
