Please see the video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioNZ76GUMcw - and the review link I posted and go to the bottom of the page.

The reviewer thinks it is sharper than the Sony 100-400 and the Nikon 400 2.8 !

Kowa has been an optical player for a LONG time now ! Most of their recent history has been with astronomy, digiscoping, spotting scopes, in other words everything EXCEPT camera lenses. So, now as a logical extension, they have branched out to camera lenses ( again)

Folks, this is a top notch lens with Fluorite ! It is contemporary technology ! It is small/light because it is NOT AF or IS ! It is adaptable to ALL cameras including medium format digital !! It appears to be internal focus. It is cheap for it's optical quality !! - Because of the manual focus and aperture, it will be better used on a mirrorless camera with EVF and focus peaking ! No focus motors or IS systems to go bad ! - Yes there are limitations for doing sports, BIF and PIF due to manual focus.

I want one !

Tempting but no auto-focus which would not be a problem for me in a normal or wide angle lens, but a super-tele? Not so sure it would see much use in my collection.

I was a Kowa user back in the day. It was my first camera outfit. They had good quality equipment, but it never really took off. Strange lens mount etc. Took it through a complete European tour in 1974 and have some great images still on my wall today. That said, because of the mount, and the cost, go with the Nikon.

I bought my KOWA 35mm 1:2 f 50mm #10178620 at the Navy PX in Yokohama, Japan in 1963 while on R&R from military operations in Taiwan. Great little camera...and I still have it.
