Hi all. New to the forum, so this is my first reply after lurking for a few weeks. I have a tremor in my right hand, it comes and goes, but sadly, one of the things that makes it fire up is holding my right trigger finger at a 90 degree angle. Before I discovered BBF I would have to actually use my thumb to operate the shutter! So. Contrary to what some my have said, for some of us it is a necessity.

Hi Sol. Welcome to the forum. I think your post really captures the gist of the argument here. The camera manufacturers have given us incredible flexibility of setup and use to fit our individual operational and physical needs. It is a wonderful thing. The conflict arises when some adopt options and then in their enthusiasm seek to enforce them as mandatory for the entire community.

Personally, I have some arthritis in my right hand, plus some limitation of range of motion resulting from a fall about five years ago. I've tried BBF, and for these reasons, it doesn't work for me at this time, no matter what the perceived benefits. But who knows...there may come a time when it becomes the best (or maybe only) way for me to continue doing photography.

Right now, though, I have absolutely no interest in anyone preaching to me that BBF is the only possible way that I can produce acceptable images. And I have no interest in preaching to anyone else that it is not. It is an option that is available for use.

Larry,

Completely agree with you. I suspect the OP stumbled on an accidental firestorm of a discussion when he really just wanted a simple answer!

Welcome to the hog, and thanks for the input. Another reason for BBAF
