I have had this lens since it first came out, have used it on the D800, D810 and now the D850. Besides excellent sharpness don't forget fast autofocus, and a very good stabilizer too.

Dennis Thank you. 🤗👌🏻I hope it works well on a cropped sensor also as my two cameras are D7500 and D500.

Check out MPB for used gear. Bought a Nikon 24-70 listed like new and not sure anyone else had touched it. Also a Tokina 16-28 like new also. They beat everyone’s prices by close to $300 and they offer free shipping and no tax.

Wow. Thanks Barndog. I’ll definitely check that. 🤗👍🏻

Ok. That’s Great. What do you primarily use it for? Is it mostly good for sports?

I have shot soccer and motocross, but mostly outdoor portraits. I switch between the 70-200, 105 DC Nikkor and my Sigma 135, 1.8 Art lens.

Ok. I don’t shoot sports or portraits. I’m hoping I can use it for flowers, animals.

Probably not good for macro, which is my favorite. I have 90mm macro for that. & aRaynox 250. And hopefully some day the 200mm f/4 micro lens.

I was looking at the 105 2.8 but could be redundant since I have 90mm.

. I really love lenses that can offer 1:1 ratio for close ups. I think the 70-200mm is about 1:2. Not sure.

Thank you 😊!

I have used the 70-200 with extension tubes and it will produce a nice image. I enjoy macro work too. In case you did not know, that lens suffers from some serious focus breathing so you will lose some focal length when close focusing. It won’t beat the Tamron 90 macro, that lens is excellent and just as good as the Nikon 105 micro. I own several macro lenses, the Nikon 60 G, 105 D, Sigma 150, Tamron 180 and the Fuji 80 macro on the X-T3 body. The Fuji 80 is the best macro lens that I have worked with, a really nice image and super fast auto focus.

Wow. So glad you told me Dennis. 😃 Macro is my favorite type of shooting. 🤗❤️

I’m always looking to advance my macro photography. So if you had a choice, what other lens would you get first for macro, the Fuji 80? And how is that different from the Tamron 90mm

I sometimes use the Raynos 250 with my 90 mm, and friends have used it with 70–300mm and got fantastic photos.

I have the Kenco extension tubes, but I have not tried them yet, and I don’t know how to use them. I was reading about reversing lenses and how they increase magnification. But that is totally confusing to me ! Lol 🤣

I just wish they made a competitor for the Canon MP – 65 macro. That appears to be a killer lens.

I’d love to see your work. have an Instagram account : “jerzytidbits”
