With the buoy, coming safely into harbor at day's end. The green light grabs me and then I look to the boat's lights and then I think about the story. Love this one, Dave!

Glad you took a look Linda. Many thanks. Afraid the buoy doesn’t stand close scrutiny though!

I think I've figured out why I like the one without the buoy. My eye kept going back and forth between the boat and the buoy. The sky got overlooked. Without the buoy I see the boat and the reflections on the water and then the sky. It's a beautiful shot to me. The buoy is a distraction. To each his own, though.

I agree that the sky is more prominent without and my eye tends to stay in the lower portion of the photo with.

"What is the photo ABOUT, to you?" determines so much, and, for me often changes as I track down a clearer and clearer personal meaning through each experimental edit.

My assumption was that guyserman is referring to photo two in his statement, and in that case for me the photo is about the boat, the sky is its back drop and the buoys anchor the boat in the scene.

Yes, I get that Guyser, and agree. Be boring if it was otherwise.

Thanks for commenting John. Hmmm, I can take or leave vignettes. Nearly removed it but decided I liked in the end.

Hi Dave

I love the boat and the beautiful sunset without the buoy with the bright light as the buoy is a distraction. What a good shot.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks for looking-in Heather, glad you like it. We were just crossing the harbour at Sandbanks - it cuts out about fifteen miles of very boring road and throws-in some pleasant scenery as a bonus. Hope all is well down Exmoor way - we’re off to Dartmoor again in April and hoping for some decent weather.

Hi Dave

I wonder where you were going. Yes, to that posh area! John took me there once as he used to live in that area before he moved to Exmoor.

John moved from Exmoor to Church Stretton, Nr Ludlow in November but I still live in Somerset. I much prefer Somerset as it is warmer and it is a lovely part of the country. I am sure he will come back this way after a couple of years. I live in hope.

Enjoy Dartmoor. I will keep my fingers crossed for you with regards to the weather in April.

Hi Dave br br I wonder where you were going. Yes... (show quote)

Well Ludlow area is nice but I see why you stayed in Somerset! We live on the Purbeck side of the harbour - couldn’t afford the Sandbanks side. That’s for footballers!
Hope John sees the light sooner rather than later for you.
Dave.
