I have the F mount 100-300mm, f/5.6 Ai-S lens and Ken Rockwell's Nikon lens compatability chart indicates the it will work on a D7200 in A & M modes. Mine doesn't have the protruding screw that you show in yours. The three around that ring are flush on mine.

I haven't tried to mount it on my D7200 yet but will sometime this weekend.

it does fit the mount, however' a negative comment are about the 'other' connectivity.....is metering. Look at the first photo in the sale, see the silver fork next to the f stop numbers...thats the linking mechanism for the meter. This is a manual focus lens....thats why its $30. + $10 s&H

The prong engages the metering pin on non-Ai cameras and meter prisms - it serves no purpose when used on later cameras and may as well be removed for use on those cameras. The meter coupling ridge seen to the right of the prong (ending at the small numeral 16) is found on all Ai/AiS aperture rings, manual and autofocus, and engages the meter coupling lever on cameras so equipped to provide open-aperture metering. I’m not aware of any Nikon DSLR that these lenses will not mount and focus on, though they will not meter with all models.

Here's two photos of the 43~86 that I use. The indicated screw prevents it from being mounted on anything but my F, Nikkormat, and Nikomat. My F5, D700, D800e, and D850 will not accept this lens.

Looks like an older, non-AI lens.
The one the OP is selling is an AI version.

The purpose of that screw is merely to prevent the lens from rotating past the locking position. Unless it has loosened or has been replaced with the wrong screw, it will not extend beyond the diameter of the bayonet and cannot interfere with mounting the lens. What does interfere is the rim of the aperture ring on non-Ai lenses, which extends about 1.6mm beyond the flange and contacts the meter coupling lever on Ai metering cameras, unless the lever can be flipped up out of the way.

Will it fit a D5300? If so, I'll bid $50. Let me know at baconjerry642@yahoo.com.

Thanks,
