What on EARTH is a "gm1", Tom?
Panasonic GM1. Similar sized to Olympus EPM2.

Well many are saying it’s a big camera. I have a EM1 Mark II and the battery grip which is about the same size as the EM-1 X, it is far from big & heavy compared to the offerings of Canon or Nikon or Sony for that matter because although the body of the A9 is smaller the lenses are much bigger.
The EM-1X shows where Olympus is taking the micro 4/3 format into the future; that I think upsets a lot of full frame people who believe that only by shooting full frame you can achieve the Nirvana. And I do shoot full frame as well as Micro 4/3.

How many FF and APS-C cameras have AI? None! You want to keep something in focus, AI will become the best way.

A lot of the professional video systems use the same format. One company has teased overtone with an 8k sensor of the same size.
Another thing it bugs me that a lot of folks believe a camera must be designed to shoot stills with the abilities of a view camera and video to broadcast the latest sitcom.
The same thing bugged me back in the film days. “Shooters” used 35mm shooting hundreds of images to get twenty or thirty good photos to fill a wedding album. I shot three rolls of 120
6x7 and used 99 percent of what I shot.

None of that would never had occurred to me ......
My sincere sympathies.

This is my GM5. IIRC, the GM1 is the
same size and pretty much the same
camera minus the EVF. That's a Sony
a6000 for comparison. Lumix GM are
possibly the smallest
"real cameras" you'll ever meet, sadly discontinued.
I took a look. Decent work. But what
I saw there is not format dependent.
Just what are you saying ?

I think you are right and that is what he is implying. Those picture are as good as any taken by pros with larger sensor cameras yet there are many that have larger sensor cameras that refuse to believe that a 4/3rds cameras can do that kind of work.

That some internet celebrity’s opinion/bias shouldn’t influence people’s opinions. Go and see what a perticular format does in the hands of the best. That is the only way to know for sure. You’ll see amazing work with every format. You will also see terrible results with every format.
All the talk ab0ut IQ for example. No one should deny that size matters, but out of all the gearheads, how many are decent, let alone excellent photographers? How many sell their work? How much difference do you actually see in prints? Can you pick out the format out of identical photos?
What do most do with photos taken at iso 25000? Sell them or just pixel peep their snapshots?
And lastly, Ill ask you as well. How many photos do you have with larger sensors, that are better than those taken with m4/3 by those 2 in the links?
Imagine if all of us untalented snapshot shooters put half our energy that we waste on the technical differences into trying to improve our lack of creative/artistic skills.
We would see a lot more photos that were A LOT better.

Oh, thanks, C … so many Panasonic models - difficult to keep up with them all … same size as EPM2?
Not sure I know what an EPM2 is, either … not an MFT user … just APS-C …

Pocket Ninja, huh, C?
Wouldn't that be - EPN2, then?
What makes it a Ninja?
Does it come with a hood?

Fits nicely in a pocket with out bringing attention to it.
no hood...never found a real need for one with the 20mm f1.7 (40mm equiv).

I thought ALL Ninjas came with hoods - don't they, C?
And trick pockets too, which hide their armory ….

Very nice. Always wished I could use one.
Due to deeply embedded habits, I've just
gotta have an eyepiece. [Thus my GM5.]
Do use a Pen-F tho, as my nod to nuevo
retro. Bigger than the EPM2, but waaaay
smaller than the OTHER nuevo retro, the
FF thing from Nikon ... very retro but too
big and noisy :-(
Now, back ON TOPIC :-)
So the new 1X is a huge monster with a
smallish sensor. Surely not a trendsetter,
or IS IT ? Remember this slooow, feeble-
minded, noisy, 1.5 MP contraption ? that
costed more than a new car ? Welcome
to Beez Kneez 1994 ! Soooooo retro ;-)
