Overall I like it. When I first opened the picture my eye was immediately drawn to the Elk, guess I'm more an animal person than a tree person. The birds to me seem like an afterthought and I would probably take them out.

I am so glad you like it. I am starting to agree the birds need to go. Thanks for commenting!

Nice composite. The building could be just a tad lighter.

Thank you for commenting. I know it is too dark in the thumbnail but it is lighter in the download. Wasn't sure if it needed to do lighter.

I enjoyed your composit, color, and texture. Your tree is wonderful, and I enjoyed the elk. I agree the building on the left could be a little more evident without competing for attention. I might suggest reducing the opacity of the texture layer a bit (but not completely) if you like the birds. At first, I thought they were part of the texture. Overall a very nice composit presentation. Bev

Thank you so much Bev! I will try reducing the opacity but as I explained to Frank the texture comes from the color layer and don't want to lose the color. I guess I could add more saturation before I reduce opacity and see if that works. Thanks for the suggestion!

The composition feels a little rigid, with the tree smack in the middle, but the colors are very nice!

Thanks you sir! I will look at trying to adjust it tree. If I cut out the birds that might work.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. Reducing the opacity of the color/texture layer didn't work for reducing the texture so I used the healing brush to clean it up some more and the birds have flown the coop. I think I am going to have to try printing this one.

Did you use the healing brush on the finished image? Next time you could try various smoothing options, including blur, prior to adding the texture to your original. Let us know how it prints. I've only printed a few that were texturized; most I was very happy with.

Linda thanks for the suggestion. I only used the healing brush on the background layer. I tried blurring it but I didn't like the way it looked after I added it. I think going forward I should have separate color and texture layers so it is easier to adjust.

Keni,
I just found a tip to keep the tone while eliminating or decreasing the texture. Highlight the texture layer, make a copy of it. Go back to the first texture layer underneath to activate it. Go to Gaussian Blur, go to a high number (can't blur too much). Go back up to the duplicated texture layer on the layers panel, add a mask (white). Now paint inside the mask with a soft black brush set at 100% or however much texture you want to take away. I tried it a couple days ago and it worked for me. Bev

Bev thank you sooooooooo much. That was exactly what I needed. I didn't want as much texture in the sky but I needed the texture in the ground. This totally allowed me to do it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
