First time I have encountered this bird. I was in Pueblo State park, Colorado and saw a medium
sized bird move from one tree to another about 50 feet. When looking at this bird with
binoculars I realized that this was a kingfisher. I got in a few shots before the last one
with the kingfisher moving to another tree quite far away.

Thank you Jerry, after reading up on this kingfisher I think it
is a female. The female kingfisher has more color than the male,
is this correct ?

Thank you Ken. Went back early this morning and got some
shots of the male and female kingfisher (not together).

I took this a day after the others, this is the male.
The male has no rufous coloring.

I have only seen one in my area and it was raiding a fishing marina's herring tank. The picture I got of it was through a fence and at too slow of a camera speed so the picture was blurry.
