All eBay communications should take place through the eBay site. They keep track of all correspondence in case of a problem. Any outside communication is at your own risk.

I am not so sure about the hole in this person's education. I counseled university seniors regarding writing employment cover letters. Many of them were not capable of composing a coherent paragraph. The other thought that came to me - I learned quite about my native english language during 2,000 hours of actively studying Korean.

How the hell does someone make it to senior year at any university without learning to write clean, clear, crisp, sensible prose?

When I was at Davidson, our reading load averaged about 110 pages every night, across all disciplines. Every paper we submitted, and every review (exam) we turned in, had to follow the Harbrace Handbook standards. FORM (sentence and paragraph structures, spelling, punctuation, grammar...) had to be perfect, or points would be taken off for sloppiness. Wite-Out was my friend... I always had a bottle next to my typewriter.

Talk about scams: Have you gotten a call from the "IRS" or "Social Security" or :"Medicare" ? Those scams must work of the scammers would stop calling. I imagine this scam has worked as well.

It would be interesting to see who is at the New Castle address. Maybe even criminal issues?

Scammers and spammers rely on quantity... The response rate is minuscule, but the payoffs are enormous, or they wouldn't keep doing it.

My wife's late uncle lost nearly everything he had to a scammer. The scammer never got caught.

I get scam emails every day. Here's a particularly stupid one I got this morning:

****** What follows is a spam scam! Do not respond!

From the United Nations desk.
Luggage Scanning / Inspection Department
Hector International Airport (FAR)
2801 32nd Ave N, Fargo, ND 58102

Attention: Sir,

I am Mr. Jeffrey D. Parnell, Head of Luggage Scanning / Inspection Department in Hector International Airport (FAR), North Dakota.

During our daily Luggage scanning and Inspection duties, I discovered an abandoned shipment through a Diplomat from the Middle East. We discovered a Metal Trunk Box of Cash Load weighing approximately 110kg (Internal dimension: W61 x H156 x D73 (cm) effective capacity: 680 L). The consignment was abandoned because the Content was not properly declared by the consignee as money rather it was declared as personal effect/classified document to either avoid diversion by the Shipping Agent or confiscation by the US government. The diplomat's inability to pay for Non-Inspection fees and false declaration was the reason why the consignment was abandoned by him.

By my assessment, the box contains about $4,000,000.00(Four Million United States dollars) or more. The box is still at the airport storage facility at this moment of sending you this message. We found your details attached to the documents that came along with the consignment box.

Having brought this to your knowledge, you have to reconfirm your (1) Full Name, (2) Phone Number, (3) Full Residential Address, so I can cross-check and see if it corresponds with the one on the attached documents.

It is now left for you to decide if you still need the consignment or want us to repatriate it back to the Middle East (place of origin). Like I did say again, the shipper abandoned it and ran away most importantly because he gave a false declaration and he could not secure a valid non-inspection document.

You can either come in person, or you engage the services of a secure shipping/delivery Company/agent that will provide the necessary security that is required to deliver the CONSIGNMENT to your doorstep or the destination of your choice. I am going to assist you in making sure the packages are delivered.

Your urgent response to this is required before the Customs takes hold of this consignment. Looking forward to hearing from you soon through my private email. (privateresponse@aol.com)

Best Regards,

Mr. Jeffrey D. Parnell

***** Again, do not respond to this bastard. People who scam like this should be "shot, drawn, and quartered," the old fashioned way.

Yes, it's a scam. They will accuse you of not shipping it to the original address, and you'll be out the money and the product.

I would immediately notify Ebay, and let them know the user name, and what they are trying to do. Expect some threats of negative reviews and legal action. It's the rare jerk that ruins it for everyone.

I've been there - twice. Very costly. For sure, notify Ebay.

Yep, freshman comp used to be (decade ago) the course that weeded out the lazy or ill prepared.

Just guessing- Unusual priorities?
State university in a small town, dominated by a church?
At one time, owners of largest commercial printer in town would be restricted by the church from printing certain jobs.

Who knows what could happen. Acting AG could haul me in for trying to intimidate owner.

That street in New Castle DE 19726 is an industrial area, not residential.

I barely got out of HS,many years ago,but reading the paragraph there were 3 or 4 incorrect word choices, tho not enuff to initially raise a flag... the incorrect words, in my opinion, indicated that english was not the writers first language... 'twas beyond "poor english", the substitutions were too incorrect.....not the mark of an uneducated person.....

Same thing happened to me. Paypal email saying payment was received so I mailed it. Then got suspicious and called paypal. They got on conference call with ebay and confirmed a scam. I called my post office then destination post office and they intercepted and mailed back to me. It was my deceased mothers wedding ring so very intimate.

This didn’t come back from ebay but a lady I knew got a fake PayPal notice that said money received go ahead and ship. She did and mailed a $3k diamond necklace and was never paid by PayPal or eBay.
To my astonishment her homeowners insurance covered it.

I'm not sure I understand your second paragraph. If you're referring to my alma mater, Davidson is a small liberal arts college in NC, consistently ranked among the top in the nation. If, by unusual priorities, you mean rigorous, uncensored, broad-spectrum undergrad liberal arts education, that's what they do. The church(es) do not dominate the town, although Davidson was once affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. There are no commercial printers in town, that I know of.

Davidson primarily prepares dozens of future doctors, lawyers, business leaders, scientists, and Presbyterian ministers. NBA basketball star Steph Curry, fiction writer Patricia Cornwell, Charlotte Mayor and Transportation Secretary under Obama, Anthony Foxx, the late Tony Snow, who was a newspaper, radio, and TV journalist (and White House Press Secretary to George W. Bush), and sci-fi fantasy author Nancy Northcott, are just a few of the success stories from there. The last two were in my class. Woodrow Wilson spent his Freshman Year there. It's a special place.
