Trying to chose between a Nikon D5600 & D7200 - the 7200 has a $300 discount any help ?

I'd highly recommend the D7200 especially if there is a discount too.

A friend of mine and I both bought the D7000 when it first came out. I always thought the focus was a bit tricky. I added a D500 which I do not regret getting. My friend bought the D7200 and she is totally satisfied with it.

She and her husband go on trips and she takes wonderful pictures with her D7200.

Get the D7200. It's the best of the 7000 series in my opinion

The D7200 uses the Nikon Wireless Mobile Utility (WMU) app for a cell phone and it is more reliable than Snap Bridge. I use the WMU app for ground level macro photography or when I would have used an articulating LCD screen.

Pretty much my way of thinking. I had a CoolPix and Snap Bridge is so awful I found it easier to just swap that card into my D7200 to do wifi transfers. And yes, who needs the articulating screen when you've got WMU?

I recently upgraded to a D7200 and am very pleased with it. I looked at the D5600 but after holding one in my hand it just felt cheap, very light & plastic. Go with the D7200 and get David Bush's two books, Nikon D7200 Compact Field Guide & Nikon D7200. Darrell Young also has a very good book on it called "Mastering The D7200". I have all three and they have been a big help for me. Just make sure that the camera with the $300.00 discount is a USA model and not a grey market one.

My friend has a 5600 and TOUCH SCREEN is very handy. However, the 7200 has well placed controls that make exposure settings equally convenient to adjust.

the d5600 is one of the few Nikon cameras with no low pass filter. that is one main difference between the two cameras you speak of. the low pass filter averages each 3 square area of pixels to counter the effects of moire at the expense of sharpness or clarity. this is an oversimplified explanation. so if max sharpness is your goal you may consider the d 5600.
The D7200 does not have a low pass filter. Why would Nikon downgrade the D7200 over the less expensive D5600?

A low pass filter degrades the image. It is used to stop moire distortion, but there is always a price to be paid for corrective measures.

Go for the 7200!!! I have a very near relative, a D7100 (a bit older technology in some areas, but a huge step up from my D3100) and it has opened a great number of creative doors and a a whole bunch of new potential for me. You will not be disappointed.

The Angry Photographer often refers to the D3xxx and D5xxx series as the "dinkies"....go with the D7200 unless you shoot more video than still photography.
