Did anyone notice the pilot?
Heat maybe? Black bodies absorb more light and will heat up faster. Thats why canon has white body glass. Just a thought.

No, they're there without download. They're just very faint but show up prominently upon download.
Does that camera have a 'textured' setting anywhere in the menu? This looks like a screen, or a texture that has been overlaid over the image.............I am not familiar with your camera. you might want to try resetting the camera to the original settings as one check, or scroll through all of the menu to see if you have accidentally clicked on something you didn't mean to.
It looks as if every other line has been eliminated from the sensor data. Looks like something's either wrong with the hardware connection to the sensor, or a flaw in the firmware. I'd say if it crops up again, do a full reset and see if that instantly clears it up. Like others have already suggested, perhaps a call to Nikon might shed some light on it.

This past weekend I was shooting an event with my Nikon D500 and 200-500mm lens. After a few hours of using it, thin black vertical lines started showing up on the photos. And this was after having lunch. So it wasn't constant use. I tried everything I could think of to narrow down the problem. Both the QXD card and SD card were showing the same results. I tried RAW vs Jpeg. Removed the lens and stuck it back on. Changed from shutter priority to other modes. I stuck in the car and went to my back up body. I went back to the car later and stuck the lens back on the D500 and fired off a few shots to see if the issue had gone away. Sure enough, it was fine. I used this combo the next day with no issues. I've used this combo for almost a year now and have never seen this before. My 4 previous Nikon bodies never had this issue either.
Attached is one of the shots.
Thoughts?

I have three questions. Did this occur with any other aircraft? Were you standing near the pilot? And if so, did his transmitter have a black flag attached to the antenna? If so, he was using amateur radio RC frequencies, which can have transmitter power up to 2 watts, quite a bit more than other RC systems. They are also in a frequency band just above 50 MHz, which can be just right to cause interference like this
Could be the case even without the flag, but the flag would be normal protocol at a group meet. And it could be interference even with a lower power transmitter.
A bigger mystery for me is: What happened to the third wing on the Fokker?
I have had it happen with Printers when the paper is incorrect and it's a software issue and we rebooted the device and reset all the perimeters and it went away. I don't know if this is any help with your issues.Sorry

Yes. But vertical lines have always been slimming.

Yes, I noticed that. The download is the original, so that must have something to do with it. Even enlarging the thumbnail doesn't show the banding. Interesting problem. I'd like to see if the lines are in the exact same place on the other images. I'd experiment and take a series of shots in the same position and see if they all have/don't have the banding.

Of course, but this goes back to WW I, over 100 years ago. What do you expect?!
I would wildly guess that CO's suggestion may have been the culprit. I know that during RC events cell phones can cause issues and signs are displayed banning the use of them anywhere close to the immediate area of RC use. Just a thought.

Yea, he is the "bare bones type" since he isn't wearing a parachute.
Curiouser and curiouser! Ask Nikon and let us know what they say.
